Hi my SGS 2 seems to have crap reception. I was on the western side of Corommandal last week and virtually from just out of Thames to Port Jackson I had very little to mostly no coverage and yet people I were with had 2_3 bars most of the time on their TC Iphones. Also at Mitre 10 in Albany I had no reception at all while my wife had plenty of reception on her basic 2 degrees Nokia. Went to Telecom store and was told that TC have been playing with the power of the cell sites while the RWC was on and things should improve over the next few weeks. Not sure this would account my lack of reception compared to the others around me. I got my phone from TC.

My SGSII is significantly better than my iPhone 4 in signal strength - are you running your phone with stock modem or have you installed a hacked version? the 9100T doesn't like some modems and can affect signal strength.

If you know someone else with an sgs 2, compare your phone to theirs at different locations.

I have been impressed with the signal strength on mine - in fact, in areas where my previous phones dropped out, my sgs 2 still keeps ticking. Using 2degrees.

I have hacked my phone though, replacing the stock OS and radio with improved versions. This is supported by Samsung but you forfeit your warranty.

Of course, if you later replaced it with the standard software and zeroed the flash counter - I am unsure how they/your phone company would tell the difference...

You haven't done something silly like put a metal case around it have you? or one of those fake aerial boosters? Take it back to the shop and compare your unit to a new one in the shop?
