Hi guys
i want to warn especially ones with yound children not to open voice search instructions video on your android phone when your kids around. i got my first android phone in the weekend and wanted to see how voice search works.
as soon as i tap there is a screen suggesting "watch video" instructions . i thought lets see if there are any tips and as soon as i tap it started playing porn video!!

thank god my 4yr old not around me she usually runs to me as soon as open my phone.

BTW is that supposed to work like that? i mean looks like, its searching for certain tags rather than one made by android team !!! is there some global setting to set content restriction level ?

What "porn"? Can you pinpoint the source? Is it a rooted device? Any third party apps installed?

its a pornographic video (hardcore sex). i dont know what rooted device is and i dont think it is.i bought this from noel leeming on sunday (samsung galaxy s1).

BTW after trying again after an hour or so it played a video couple guys working at gym!

This morning i updated firmware to 2.3 but ive not tried voice option again yet.

I doubt Google have included porn on voice search instructions. I'll assume this is a porn is on the internet issue. What are you searching for?!

i did not search anything. on my phone there is a google search box along with "mic" icon. when i tap mic icon a small screen comes up "watch video" for instructions and i tap and video gets played straightaway.

BTW if you dont get this screen click on "help" button and that should bring up screen i was talking about.

I just tried this but mine plays the correct video using the youtube app.

using wifi at home. i dont want to try again now as am at work. if same thing happens again our admins think am watching porn at work!!

anyway i suspect , someone at the store might have used this before OR a customer return. because when i opened the box , the container that holds the manual slightly torn!

Either this was used before and has some malware (it exists), or you DNS at home is redirecting to wrong places (it happens).

I suggest you hard reset the handset as first step to make sure it doesn't happen.

probably i should google it ,assuming i figure out what hard reset is ,do i need to setup whole thing again (ie. contacts,mail,my desktop customisation etc.,)?

BTW i updated firmware this morning is it not enough ? does it still need hard reset?

If you think it has been used before i would stop using it straight away.

It may just be a prank but their could possibly be other malware on their recording your keystrokes and will gain access to your account logins and passwords.

I would return it to noel lemming immediately.
