Hi all,

Late last night I did a random manual software update check on the tab (even though set to auto) and a new firmware (8mb) was available.  Took about 5 - 10 mins to complete.  During the upgrade I had thought the tab had locked up but patience paid off.  Sorry, didn't get around to recording the pre & post software versions.  I do recall the 'Stability' word popping up though.

Anyone have any information on what the new firmware does?

Update; Apply with caution, looks like some people are reporting issues that the new update stuffs up DHCP via WiFi.  I didn't experience this as I am using a static IP address.

The update (which has since been pulled by Samsung), updates the Galaxy tab 10.1 WiFi version only to Android Honeycomb 3.2 from 3.1.

The reasons why Samsung pulled the update included loss of Wifi when using DHCP, broken Bluetooth, etc. Apparently these were due to the update process itself and not the actual update.

For those who like to play, XDA DEV has a working update, along with almost a dozen 3.1 and 3.2 ROMS which can be installed as a replacement OS.

I am running Task's v3.0, which is based on the working 3.2 update released yesterday and includes other enhancements too. My tablet seems very snappy and without bugs and errors (apart from the browser bookmark sync issue).

My Galaxy Tab is currently using 3 IP addresses according to my Router. I wonder if this is linked?

Maybe try assigning it a static IP?

Flash this...

Just flashed this ROM, it's 3.2 and runs amazingly.  I thought the upgrade to touchwiz was great but this is like having an entirely new tablet.

Well the official 3.2 update is officially out. Checked for updates last night and it came up. Took about 10 minutes to download and over an hour to install.

Don't really know, the only difference I've noticed so far is that the email icon at the bottom right corner now has an @ in it too.

Checked for updates lastnight via Wireless & Kies and no update available.  Even though I did managed to apply the last update before it was pulled, I am still @ Android 3.1.  Will try again over the weekend.

Upgraded successfully today; everything seems ok and nothing lost in transit either.   Very fast to upgrade, too - but this could be as this tablet doesn't have much stored on it at the moment, so the backup/restore was quick.

I'm hoping this version will solve the stupid inability of the tablet to connect via a proxy server which requires authentication - something which has only been a basic requirement ever since the turn of the century in my opinion...  :-)

Why/how is it that the update is available for some and not others? Just checked on mine and no update available.

Think it might just be for the Wifi version at the moment.. do you have the 3G?

Nope ... just the WiFi release.

Yeah I still haven't got it either via Wifi or Kies.  I wonder if those who have the new update didn't apply the last one that was pulled?  I did get the last one before it was pulled.

I didn't have the previous update - I was running Honeycomb 3.1 before this upgrade

Slightly confused - if you got the update from a couple of weeks ago, then you'll be on 3.2 already; what else were you expecting?

Don't know what's happening with the updates if its not a Wifi/3G thing. I didn't download the previous update. Here's a screenshot of my settings page which I transferred to my computer using a new app that got installed with 3.2 called AllShare. Basically you can connect over a network and transfer photos, music and videos to another device (i.e from tablet to computer and vice versa). Relatively simple to use, but there is a lot of room for improvement. Clicking on Help opens up some kind of propriety browser which is conveniently in what I assume to be Korean, with no apparent option to change language. Might I also mention that every time AllShare is opened it requires UAC permission (on Vista). Funny...
