Hi All,

I'm completely gutted as I've done the most moronic thing today and dropped my HTC Sensation face down on concrete!  :(
As you can imagine, the glass is completely smashed - however the phone still works, If I'm willing to cut my fingers lol!

Telecom have given me a quote of $350 to have the screen replaced at Telegistics!
My excess for my insurance is $300, so just as bad!

I've seen that you can order replacement screens on Trademe and Ebay (which my husband can probably install for me), but I was then told by a repair person (here in Welly) that the new screen will affect the sensitivity and that the Sensations don't "like" having parts replaced!

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I bet you're pretty annoyed with yourself.  I dropped my two day old E7 onto the concrete, fortunately it survived with just an almost unnoticeable bruise on the plastic.

Do a Google search for replacing a screen on the Sensation.  There's probably pull apart videos on You Tube and other info on how to do it and how successful any repairs are.

It's my guess anyone with some electronic technical ability would be able to do it.  Some times special tools are needed however very often these are supplied with the new screen.  It would be very rare that a screen would not be able to be replaced succesfully.

There is can be a variation in the quality of screens available, so choose your supplier carefully.

Hi All,

So I've ended up looking on Ebay for a replacement screen and there are a few options, but the thing that I need a hand with is getting the right part.

My phone is a Sensation Z710a from Telecom NZ, but the parts on Ebay are often for a Sensation Z710e or they say Sensation 4G or Tmobile Sensation 4g.
Would mine be the same as a 4G?

They all look exactly the same, but I don't want to import the wrong part!

Any help would be appreciated :)

I'm not familiar with your phone.  Is the same replacement screen being listed for more than one phone? In my experience you do have to be careful with some places as they show the same results for any enquiry. However very often the same screen is used in various devices.  Check to see if the screens have the same specs, i.e. AMOLED, size and width by height in the pixel numbers etc.  If so it's likely but not guaranteed that they are the same.
