I have a couple of these phones on Telecom which are randomly turning off. This is a bit annoying for the users as can be imagined.

They are on 2.2 but then I try to upgrade to the 2.3 (or a later release) everytime I run the LG software it says the servers for phone updates are undergoing maintenance and cannot be accessed. But that's the case for the past few days which seems a bit unlikely.

I wonder if others have seen this problem?

Thanks

Are you at home or work? A coworker has one of these and got the same error when trying to update it at work (behind a proxy server). It updated successfully on a non-proxied connection.

At work but I disconnected from the network, used our alternate wifi connection and it still failed. I must try again to make sure.

I managed to download the software okay but when I started the upgrade it said it would wipe the phone. This is not the same experience I have when I get OTA updates for my N1.

Since my colleague while not having downloaded many apps, had not bothered to sether default contacts store to her Google account, either using the Exchange account or the phone, the wipe would have removed all her non Exchange accounts stored on the phone. So I can't do the update until she's moved them all.
