Yeah I am keen - currently using the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active with Cyanogenmod, great phone, has done me well.

So if you buy one, you owe me one too ;)

i'm also waiting for galaxy s3. i love my galaxy s2 but i found Sony has better support and update. i found it interesting how they support independent dev team (freexperia) and actually loans sony devices to developers around the world

Concrete clarification on bands anyone?
That sony site says
UMTS/HSPA 850/900/1900/2100 which is great.
Clove says this also.

But gsmarena shows
HSDPA 900 / 2100 - LT26i
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - LT26a

And mobicity specifies 900mhz, not 850mhz.

Wrong information or what? This looks like an absolutely excellent device and if its quad band 3g i will very likely consider upgrading.

Aside from this im trying to find a downside to this phone. It seems to have everything perfect otherwise. Any little things that i've missed?

Doesnt come with ICS preloaded. For me I am waiting to see what ICS looks like on this device (Although the Sony UI looks very minimal, which I like)

dont bother referring to gsmarena - they never get their information right. sony has confirmed that xperia S will be quadband UMTS (850/900/1900/2100) - as in my first post.

the phone is shipped with 2.3.7 and ICS will be in Q2. i dont mind using 2.3.7 as some of the app on the market are not yet fully compatible with ICS.

I'm following Sony's Android handsets with interest, they've been making good moves for a while. Quite interested in this one, but very hard to stomach buying a 2012 handset with Gingerbread at launch having used an ICS handset. By second quarter I'd expect stuff like the SGSIII to be getting close, so throws a shadow over this handset. Will see, I do like the look of this one.

samsung mentioned that the earliest launch would be mid 2012 for sgsIII (june). by then, ICS should be up and running for xperia S.
