Hi

For some time now I've been experiencing issues with the sound quality of Skype when using my Acer Iconia A500 tablet. Here is an example of the noise I'm experiencing that someone else posted on YouTube.

The Internet is littered with people around the world with the same issue, and I was wondering what people's experience is here in NZ.

ACER support have removed their online support for New Zealand, so the only contact is with an overseas call center, which is tiring.

When ever I've contacted ACER support they've told me that the next software update will fix my microphone issues with Skype, and GTALK. I've tried a factory reset and that didn't work. Either Acer are ignoring their customers, or they are trying to pretend that there isn't an issue.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and got it resolved either by:
  • having the unit sent away for repair
  • a full refund
  • software update
A work around is to plug headphones into the tablet, but that's not convenient if there are several people wanting to be part of the skype call.

I'm at my whits end, and about to storm into Harvey Norman and demand my money back.

Cheers
Paul

I thought I would provide an update on my Acer Iconia A500 woes.

After banging my head against a wall trying to get any sense out of Acer Support (Acer phone support available from NZ uses overseas call center in Asia somewhere) I posted a disgruntled comment on the Acer ANZ facebook page. Almost immediately I received a response from someone from Acer support in Australia.

They aknowledged that there was an issue with the microphone which should have been fixed with a software updated, but in some cases the problem was also a hardware issue.

Within 12hrs of my post of Facebook, my tablet was back at Harvey Norman and being sent away for repair.

So in conclusion. Acer support from NZ is useless.

I will post back here when I receive my Tablet back from repair.
