Its claiming out of space, despite an empty 32 gig SD card being in the phone and showing only 160kb being used in the storage tab of task manager.

In fact it doesnt seem that anythign is using the SD card, rdio has filled up the 12 gig storage and isnt putting anything on the SD card either.

How to make it backup so I can have a shot at putting ICS on the phone?

Silly question, but you have chosen the external SD card as the backup location? By default it is set to internal storage.

How? Its set to /mnt/sdcard which is about all I can see on there relating to an SD card.

/mnt/sdcard is the internal memory on my phone and tablet, not the micro sdcard addon.

Ummm, ok. What is the card then? I would have thought that the software would have found it by itself since backing up the phone to the phone doesn't seem like a particularly useful thing to do. Mind you this is the phone that started to nag about being full when it had 10 gigs free before.

If you're using a CyanogenMod based firmware, then it may be in /mnt/emmc/

Thats where it is on my sgs2 it seems. No progress on making rdio use it, and im not going to splash out on a 64 gig card if I cant use it for music

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

You can use it for music, just copy your MP3s onto it.

Sounds like rdio is hardcoded to use /mnt/sdcard - You might want to find a less poorly executed alternative.

If you've rooted your phone there's a ton of apps to move from internal memory to SD.

Custom firmwares like Cyanogen mod come with such features built in.
