Vodafone’s network serving Christchurch, Wellington and Kapiti will be among the first in the world to deploy next-generation DOCSIS 3.1 architecture – capable of delivering gigabit speeds, higher network capacity, greater efficiencies and better quality control.

Vodafone CEO Russell Stanners says, “Upon completion of the upgrade, every premise within reach of the network will have access to 1Gbps plans at affordable prices.

Enhanced capacity and 1Gbps plans will become progressively available across Vodafone’s ultra-fast broadband network from mid-2016. Further information on customer plans and pricing will be available next year.

Vodafone keeps on calling their cable network "ultra-fast broadband". I wonder if CFH has a problem with that?

It's a nice network you have there. It would be a shame if overloading impacted these promised gigabit speeds.

And did I mention the Technicolour modem/router?

It gets very confusing when trying to work out whether it's the UFB network or Vodafone's cable network. I guess they figured everyone thinks cable is slow so if they call it "ultra-fast broadband network" instead then people will be ok with it.

I hope it won't be a 7-year roll-out like fibre.

I want it all ... I want it now.  wink

Please be different modem... one that is just plain bridge as I would rather keep using my established router setup at home!!!

Sounds promising, Vodafone, you may have just given me a reason to stay. Don't let me down! If its affordable and reliable then I'm in. Any idea when the upgrade will be complete for everyone? I don't want to get exicted for mid next year only to find Woodridge is at the bottom of the list.

I doubt it. We did it with TelstraClear. Interesting I didn't get a press release or message regarding this, so there's always this.

they really need to fix the ongoing issues with the current network before they consider upping the speed

What upstream speeds are likely to be available? Earlier DOCSIS standards typically allocated very asymmetric bandwidth to the channels. I haven't read about v3.1 as yet.

Upping the speed is a way to fix the current issues, no?

No. It seems the available capacity is at play too.

The network performs at max speed at certain times.
