Hi guys, I've got a number of customers having various internet issues this morning. Is anyone aware of the causes/s? Does anyone have a TelstraClear connection in Auckland that is working?

We've been told by TelstraClear of an eqiupment failure, but that should have been fixed by now. We've also come across customers with other ISPs that are having various issues. These may well be related to the TelstraClear issues but we're not certain.

TCNZ Wholesale Faults report a RAN issue.

ETR was 10:00am . I personally observed return to service for a number of connections at 10:30ish and then went back down just after 11

Update 11:20am "Authentication and international traffic issues across multiple RANs users nationwide will be affected. Next update at noon"

TCL cable has been virtually unusable since just after 0630. Akamai hosted sites seem fine and some local sites like Stuff worked but 99% of the interweb was gone. The problem (whatever it was) seems to have affected a large number of ISP's and data circuits that TCL provide.

I would be interested to know what happened since the effects were so wide spread - not just Xtra or TelstraClear, or UBS.

Issues in Christchurch as well.  Unable to access TVNZ, Xtra or a number of other NZ websites.  E-mails to Xtra were also being bounced!

Line card failure on a box yyy it appears. I had noticed odd behaviour for traffic transiting this in Febuary and asked to be moved to xxx box. Half the traffic was subsequently transferred through to xxx and has experienced no issue during this outage. Layer 2 traffic was uneffected, eg was only layer 3 metro IP AFAIK which was transiting box yyy.

I believe extra load on TCNZ network during this time may have caused outages on this network also, not too sure as to the degree they were related.

It was a fault with Telecom's routing engine in the exchange from the looks of it,

Update at 10:00: Alcatel have replaced FPC Card in MDR-IP03E however fault is still apparent
Update at 12:45: Loss of Routing Engine (RE1) on MDR-IP03E between 11:13 - 11:40. Traffic switched back to Primary Routing Engine (RE0) with an unexpected restart.

But there was also a TCL outage that seemed to effect everyone on their AS4768 network, well as far as I could tell..... The 2 are unrelated.
