freitasm: Worst thing is... I am presenting next month at the Microsoft Partner Conference, about Windows Mobile 6 and why partner companies should develop mobile capabilities to bring to the market.
And guess what? I don't have a legitimate Windows Mobile 6 device, because... Well, I am not going there, but enough to say that companies still don't believe in help me help you.
Itis going to be hard to convince Microsoft partners to invest in this ecosystem, seeing that in New Zealand we don't have any Windows Mobile 6 device yet.

insider: The delays are caused by some last minute roadblocks Microsoft have thrown up. eg collection and validation of device IMEI's, only allowing 1 download per IMEI, reverse logistics issues with reflashing devices, issues with reflashing current stock... the list goes on. It was all ready to go until this hit the fan...
Using your own OS has its advantages...
insider: Just a followup, the reason for version checks is that
a) VF don't want you turning your device into a non-VF device, for obvious reasons
b) It's important to know that the version your upgrading from actually supports being upgraded to the new version. This gets REAL tricky, and it's impossible to check every combination (QA is a PITA), so it's made simple by only supporting known good combinations. For VF 750v, that means if you have something other than the original 750v ROM you will not be able to upgrade your device.
Many people feel "it's my device, i can do what i want", but as soon as they find out they've bricked their device they go back to VF for a replacement "it just stopped working...". Have seen this all too often...
The official version is not far away, and you're gaining nothing by installing the ATT ROM - except the inability to upgrade to the final VF ROM when it ships.
Cheers,
ooh, I'm really scared now...
I can still use it as a (expensive) letter-weight.
Do you know what the "soft" in software means ?
The firmware (although called firm) is still software in the end ...
cheers, Enno
insider: It's stupid replies like that that make me wonder why I bother getting involved in user forums... (sigh)
I'm trying to help and educate you guys, but if you don't want it I'll go spend my time elsewhere instead of here...Cheers,
