So was anyone else told USB recording would be available by now when they were looking to purchase their ET?

On Aug 9 Peter from Satlink said it was 1.5 months away which has been and gone already.
ET's not much use to me without recording.

Coship Nasties....

One should watch out for coship clones...on market place...Triones, Yess, Digitnet,SM801...all OEM's of coship in china...all with faults, like freezing ,etc,etc...no service support...typical coship  bad software design...be warned!!
of course..our opinion...but also other folks opinion and experience too!!!

I totally agree but you are in the wrong thread.
This thread is all about a terrestrial receiver and its issues.
Not Coship, or Chinese clones, just the Xtra terrestrial.

Yep, I was led to believe the USB recording would be available shortly after purchasing the reciever...   I figured 2 months might be about right?
Peter seems to post here, so he could be reading...   Although his posts are little more than sales and/or world domination based..

Man alive, is reply 169119 a case of the pot calling the kettle black?  I would much prefer that the poster spend less time bagging competition and spend more time identifying, acknowledging and then resolving the issues in the ET.  I believe these are of more interest to the majority of readers of this thread.  After all, the most sales will be achieved when the reputation of the ET unit can be widely agreed to have no faults, no freezes, stable with no need for reboots or re-imaging, to frankly do what it should do, let alone the future promise of USB recording (which I question whether that should only be trialled when all the former is achieved).   Will a stable fully functional unit be achieved?  I sure hope so.

Zinwell has a old processor, runs too hot, no on screen display, no HD on component..reportedly still audio issues(stopping and starting)...and a 20% failure rate...so we were told!
No wonder they have lowerred the price..!!
Good unit for outdoor living...if you forget your frypan...you can use this to cook!!

If you're so unhappy with your E.T box, please send it back, will send you a Zinwell....!!
clock issue only evident, if you put unit on standby...
Being fixed today, ....!

E.T's still selling like hot cakes...obviously proves its  the best on the market...!!.

Not according to your own web page http://www.satlinknz.co.nz/extra_terrestrial.html where you state:

Current issues being addressed / investigated

Clock inconsistancies when receiver is on standby

Distortion on bottom audio red white output. Top ones are OK.

Dropout audio on coax connection . . TV3 ???

Hi

I have latest software and am also suffering the odd audio dropout on optical plus the pixture periodically pixelates. (about once evey 5 minutes)
Also have had the occasional freeze where I have had to do a reboot by powereing off at the wall
And was told that the HD recording via USB would have been here by now

I am now usually watching TV via satellite decoder as this does not have any of these issues. The quality is not quite as good though but still perfectly watchable and always with sound.

you obviously hava signal problem...its not the box..okay!!

some of you guys need to realise ,if you get a signal off another /transmitter, somewhere, then there will be problems..
we can access 3 different repeaters where we live and are 200m from waiatarua TX...and we have problems, if unit tunes itself to a distant Tx site..

A friend lives in titirangi, and accesses the hamilton Te aroha site...over 100km away..Works perfectly...

boxes do not freeze, and glitch..total   rubbish..!!
These faults are caused by poor signals..
You can be on one ch, fine, then go to another, and it might have problems, due to being tuned to another Repeater....common fault..Not the receiver...your antenna..!!
Some folks anntenas probably are getting Waiatarua and Skytower, with mixed sig levels..Waiatarua is Horizontal pol...and skt t is vert...remember this
We have a dealer in tokoroa...moaning...poor chap..his problems same...trying to score good signals from over 100km away...god..Needs a good antenna setup...
.
And instead of wining and moaning like a old lady..!! If unit is unstratched and clean...we will take it back gladly, and send you a Zinwell...or sommett..ideal for cooking eggs on, and definately with many faults!!!.

Rchard...your e/mail being bounced ...trying to contact you...try the phone!
Another fault with customers...is this.
Not doing upgrade correctly...
word  "MENU"..on front screen .has to change to "USB.."

if it doesn't, then upgrade has not been done...simple...turn off and try again, and also,,,only some sticks work...if you're having a problem in this area contact peter at ,freeviewnz.com for help.., or david at Hillcrest elect...

To be honest, your attitude is getting a little tiring.
I'm very happy with my ET box, but I dispute your claims that the issues are caused by signal problems (the digital audio out issue specifically). If that is the case, why do the other audio outputs (RCA, HDMI) not have the same problems? I have never had an audio dropout (to my knowledge) when watching on my TV via HDMI. I only have an issue when audio is output via coax to my HT receiver. I'm not about to sit around testing, waiting for a problem, that's your job. If you want to bury your head in the sand, that's your prerogative, but I don't think it'll win you many friends here. Out of interest, what kind of HT receiver do you use and what output are you using (Optical or Coax)?

Also, would you say the issue with the clock is caused by signal? The boxes most certainly do have issues when left in standby for a period of time and I think you are well aware of it (once offering the "fix" of not putting it in standby).

I'm not a reseller so I don't have the same motivation as some (such as Jaxson etc), I'm happy with my purchase and I don't mind resetting it every now and again. What I do have a problem with is you using this thread to hawk your goods/put down other products while simultaneously refusing to acknowledge some pretty obvious problems with the ET unit. Maybe I should bring my box to your place to test with your signal. No doubt my setup could be better, I just used the existing UHF aerial and cables but I get 1/2 to 2/3 signal strength and 100% quality, the Pinehill transmitter is just up the hill from me. I just think if I had a problem with my signal that there'd be more obvious signs and all audio would be affected, don't you?
