So, I have Sky to watch Rugby, and RWC starts in a month.

I have a My Sky Decoder, and will record all 40 matches on it and watch them.

For a variety of reasons, I want to be able to watch those recorded matches in more than one room. Simple right? Nope.

I can't record in one room and play back in another. I can have multi room but if I want to want something, it must have been recorded on the box I am watching on.

For $160 I can get a modulator installed and mirror my downstairs TV to upstairs, but both TV's must watch the same thing.

I can't use Sky Go because it may take between 2 and 10 days for a sports match to be uploaded to Sky Go (WT    F!!)

Sky Sport Now is expensive, but regardless, the quality is rubbish.

How can this be the situation in 2023!

As crap as Spark Sport was, at least I could match the matches wherever I was in passable quality.

Because they are stored locally and encrypted, and sky hasn't set the box up to share this recording with other sky box's across your LAN.

For future content, there is an easy fix. Just record all the matches to your multiple boxes.

If I recall rightly (don't have sky anymore), there is an online interface where you can set up things to be recorded for all of your boxes, so no need to do it manually with the remote at each box?

Only issue is that you would need to delete the games you have watched from each individual box, and manage your storage space available.

This would all be avoidable if they put the stuff onto Sky Go considerably faster than 2-10 days!!

I'm going to subscribe to another service to cover my other room(s) and if it works well, I am done with Sky. It's a good service, but with 4 years notice they can't get seamless multiroom watching happening for the biggest sporting event every 4 years, I'm over it.

I'd feel much better if the CSR hadn't have given the range to be 2 to 10 DAYS. Can definitely deal with hours, but my worry is days. Just not sure I can trust it.

Because with the demise of Spark Sport they once again have a monopoly and can do whatever the heck they want. They don't have to try and pretend to be competitive or fairly priced or offering a good service any more. They'll keep doing it too until enough people just stop paying them and they go bust (and that cannot come soon enough)

Does anyone know if all the RWC games will be ondemand for sky now?

Also is there an option if a game is live say half way through to watch from start?

Don’t think it’s possible to start watching a live game halfway through with most of these streaming providers. It caught me out a few weeks ago on Stan sport with one of the All Black games. I was thrown to the near end and the score was revealed. Lesson learned is to wait a few hours for the full replay. Highly annoying.

It really seems we have gone backwards. This use to be possible 15 years ago with the sky recorders. Can do it on my TiVo too for the games that are on free to air.

This why Sky needs to have a decent App that allows viewing anywhere, record/save, pause/delay for all channels on a stop start subscription plan and most importantly works as a true 20s App. They could still have boxes available to those who need them.

I currently use Stan and have never had a problem with watching a game from the start while its mid way through the game. I just choose watch from beginning/start. I use it on an apple tv 4K.

Might have to stick with Stan for the RWC even though i hate the aussie commentary.

Speaking of this on a Sky thread.. for sky box subs It grates me that you used to be able to press the yellow button to access alternate commentary (Fox v Chan 9 for league) and Aus/Eng/Irish commentary vs NZ commentary for overseas rugby games but I've never found it to work anymore. Guess its too costly for Sky

That’s interesting. Maybe it is dependant on what type of device you using. I am using an android mibox.

When I used to watch rugby (a lot) I did it with the sound off. I dislike rugby commentators and I have a particular dislike for Justin Marshall.
