Just had MySky HDI installed. So far so good. Great toy. Impressed with quality on our cheap widescreen TV. However small complaint. The remote does not work from my favourate chair which is about 5 metres from TV. Works up to about 3.5 m. Am I asking too much? Rang Sky and they said eco friendly light bulbs could be interfering with it. Turned them of but no better. Any ideas?

Mine was like that too.... I put it down to the crappy batteries.
then I broke the back cover trying to work out how it came off.

It may be something to do with ecobulbs interfering. I seem to remember a thread a while ago that there was an issue with the florescent bulbs causing interference with the mysky remotes. There was even some talk about Sky sending out some filters to put over the mysky ir receiver. I can confirm that the mysky remote will work from 5 metres and further out.... Can you move the chair closer to the tv? ;-) try it with the lights off... (mysky that is...)

Thanks for that but the only thing is the remote is still not strong even when the lights are all off.

You say you have a widescreen tv, is a lcd/plasma? The reason being that if the backlight is set to low that can cause the remote to not work.

I aim to misbehave.

It is a plasma.Think backlight is LCD only but I am not sure?

Plasma are broadband electro-magnetic emitters. The MySky may be being blinded by the IR coming from the plasma and reflecting off walls, windows etc.

There is an led on the front of the mysky that flashes when it is receiving IR, what is its activity like?

Here are a couple of things you could try;

1)   Turn the TV off and see if the mysky reacts from 5 metres,
2)   Try rotating the mysky so its sensor pointing in a slightly different direction
3)    The mysky remote is pretty powerful try something in front of the sensor that will filter the plasma IR but still let some mysky signal through.

In my system where I use ir sensors to a central cupboard I have to be very careful on the placement of the sensors in relation to my plasmas.

Sorry with LCD turn up the back light and with Plasma turn up the brightness should work.

I aim to misbehave.

What do you mean you use IR Sensors?

You could request the filter from Sky to see if that sorts it.

My TV is in a different room to the AV equipment so I use an infrared sensor in the TV room connected to an infrared flasher where the mysky box is.

Did you try turning the mysky box around a bit or some sort of filter or block? I ended up with a strip of cardboard directly in front of the sensor at one stage. It stopped the direct reflection of the plasma IR but let the remote IR through or around it (not sure which) so the remote worked.
As mentioned above by hairy1, a plasma filter from Sky to put over the mysky sensor should help solve the problem. And it should be free, otherwise what's the point in an HD mysky if it is crippled by half the HD sets in the country.

Insulation tape does the job for mine - works with both my LCD TV and Eco-Bulb from all the way across the room.
