It's amazing - the offer of a free new box is being pushed to me VERY often and I am resisting - I had a quick look on the website to see if I was "missing anything" - it appears that having the old sky box and an Apple TV is the way forward for the foreseeable future for me.

There is literally no reason for me to downgrade to the new box unless they force me to - at which point I'll simply cancel.

I made the move as there were a few upsides for me compared to the old HDi box.

That's fair - and everyon's circumstances and experiences will be different.
I suffer from terrible FOMO, so am constantly tempted by the shiny new thing I don't have...

I'm on the same solution, they are about 5yrs late to the "all streaming apps in one place" discussion...and likewise, after this experiment if/when they force the move I'll have to cancel, if I'm going to build a whole load of workarounds for their feature downgrade, I'll be doing it on Freeview without the Sky subscription.

At least use the latest version of Android OS!! I don't think the device can not upgrade any further than 11, current version out now is 14

Not a chance of them updating the base OS!

The Android SkyGo app, apparently last updated in December 2023, proudly claims that "it now supports Android 13." That was only 15 or so months after Android 13 went live, and 3 months after my phone was updated Android 14.  For whatever reason, it refuses to play full screen landscape mode.

By the time they get round to updating the app, I expect Android 15 will already be out of beta.

*** Out of curiosity, I did some testing, and it seems that the SkyGo android app can't handle anything other than the device default "Display size and text" setting in Android 14.  Absolutely unbelievable for a media company!

I'd consider them a broadcaster and Skygo is a tertiary method of access. It's not really unbelieveable at all in my opinion, it's about on par with expectations.

Has anyone else found the home button to not work on the remote anymore? I have the Pod and over the last week or so the home button not longer does anything so it becomes a bit more hassle to get back to the home screen from an app or channel, having to find a way to navigate to the menu on the left and choose home.

I would like to see a setting in the Android UI to go to a certain area when the device has been restarted either for an update or what ever Sky does after hours to the device.

I turn the TV off when finished watching the CI channel and back on the next day, sometimes it is back at the home screen!!

Now I need to get up and find the remote to change it back

This have been suggested a long time ago When I told them that you should allow the user to choose the landing page: either go directly to the last watched channel or homepage. But As a trial user, it has fallen on deaf ears.

My mum has Sky with the MySky box and has received the offer of the new box for free.  What are the pros and cons of this as of now?  I have read about all sorts of issues in the past but not sure if/how things have improved.  She has a Smart TV with apps so doesnt need these on a Sky box.  She uses the current Sky box like a VCR to record shows and series to watch later as well as watching live TV.
