If this merger does ahead, this will be even more reason to avoid Skodafone...

and in all seriousness, I expect you will see more people jumping ship and moving to a Freeview, Netflix, Lightbox model...

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much

Sport. I doubt that VF/Sky will be allowed to offer preferential deals to VF users. I'd love to see if any others might band together to go after a new sport service?

That would be cats amongst the pigeons

wingbat45: Alright people, once this goes ahead (and assuming it will) what would we all expect to see?

New boxes?
New name?
New deals?
The ability of being able to choose channels?

Thoughts?

Will the ability to choose channels make it cheaper?

3/4s of the channels on SKY cost them next to nothing to show so why would ditching those mean you get a saving?

Though it would be interesting to see what the cost to watch something was if the cost was the rights costs divided by the number of viewers

"Spark regulatory affairs manager John Wesley-Smith said the stay would ensure all interested parties had a chance to make informed decisions on whether to seek a judicial review, if there was a decision to clear the merger.

"We and others believe the proposed merger will be bad for consumers – resulting in poorer choice and higher prices for consumers, especially when it comes to sports content. That was at the heart of our decision to take this court action,"

So Spark are inferring that if the merger went forward Spark and 2 degrees prices would go up, interesting. Going on from this, if Comm Comm decline the merger application will Spark and 2 degrees hold their prices at current levels.

They didn't say that, they said higher prices to consumers especially when it comes to sport. Which indicates non Voda users will pay more for Sky services than Voda customers using Sky services

Even longer hold times! (hehehe)

my PB is 3.5 hrs to vodafone for a PASSWORD RESET of all things

Odd, as the old Telstra Clear system appears to have the password stored in plain text (As evidenced by the CSR reading back my password to me.  *sigh*

Commerce Commission has declined the merger. Is the next step to file for a judicial review of the decision?

Beaten to it!

I would doubt it, ComCom is ComCom, if it went judicial, they would need to seek expert advice. From who? ComCom.

Be interesting to see why. The only way I can see why is that they felt that there would be a heavy bias to Voda users, for what is a 800,000 national customerbase, and that there is more to it than just sharing costs
