Hi, you need multiple tuners so you can watch one program yet record any program or multiple at the same time should they not be on the same mux
Cyril
You would normally get the same signal stats from each tuner, but it might vary with different transponders. There are multiple channels on each transponder, except the test one.
Please post a screenshot of your tuner screen readings.
The reading for channel 777 should be 169/89 then signal dbuv and snr
Has anyone seen an additional active transponder on 12644H?
I've occasionally had a scan where second version of the test Channel 777 appears on that transponder, but only for a very short period of time.
Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
Sorry I didn't upload a photo of my signal strength screen as requested. Every time I tried, web site said "There was an error" (or something similar).Anyway the signal on 777 is down in the 6 db s/n, where existing channels are 11 db s/n.
Today I received the following email from SKY. My brother who lives down the road a bit from me received one too. Neither of us have complained to Sky about anything...
We live in "remote" Invercargill. Going to be busy if everyone in Invercargill gets one of these emails...
Kia ora Peter,
We’re at the business end of our satellite migration and all set to switch satellites in April.
If the signal strength is so much higher from K6 then no one will need a larger dish. That's bizarre.
Higher power but a different footprint shape.
Thanks for posting that info.
I wonder how those in the Chathams are getting on?

Remote in this instance will mean remote from the beam footprint. The beam from the satellite will not provide uniform coverage - the further from the centre the lower the signal strength.

Can your brother also test channel 777 and give his signal report.
I assume you are home users using the standard size Sky installed dishes.
Yes, we both have standard size dishes. Unfortunately my brother has a rubbish install. Over the years trees have grown in front of his dish. I am surprised it works at all. Needs moved in my opinion! On existing channels a 9 db s/n and on 777 3.5db s/n with the odd "blocks".
Also have a friend on the other side of town. He has 11 db s/n on exsisting channels, 777 about 5.5 db s/n.
So there is a definite trend of weak 777.
It must drop off massively, mines 18+ thats with the lnb being skewed 30 degrees in the wrong direction tweaking that would get it up over 20
its no problem at all even on 45cm
That signal strength is amazingly high. I would have suspected that the problem is just bad installations at my house and friends, but obviously Sky knows there is a genuine problem.
Can’t see them sorting it out in time, might have to do my own aerial massaging!
(or Kodi on a Fire Stick)
I see the problem.
Can’t upload image with iPad, or maybe just too dumb!
is there any more new signals/channels from new satellite yet?
