Spyware: Moving base station may help, but best to simply turn off when issue arises. If problem disappears then it is obviously the phone.

Thanks, will test on an ad break :-) Go ABs!
Mar1: Thanks for the tip, Spyware. Is it enough if the base station is moved to another room?
I doubt that it is due to phone though as this is happening to more than one person exactly at the same time. Or maybe mickeydrip lives next door and I just don't know it?! Haha!
Mar1: I am blown away by SKY's customer service :-)
He came and determined the fault (probably knew what to look for due to similar complaints), fixed it, and left – it was all over and done with in 10 minutes!
It turns out there is a part in the dish unit called LNP or LNB or something, and that had just 'worn' out and gone grey. Apparently there's an old model of this part that keeps giving the techies (and customers) grief, and we had that part. It was 'only' 3 years old, but when exposed to sun or elements it just stops functioning properly

Hi Mar1,
Sky first encountered this problem about 12 months ago whereby some of their dual LNBs (which are expected to operate trouble-free for 8-10 years at least) started taking down groups of channels on a hot sunny day. Some enterprising customers have found that throwing a bucket of water over the LNB cools it down and keeps it operating until the Sky installer turns up!
Sorry, I've only just read this topic otherwise I would have let you know.
Cheers, Wild Bill.
