I was conidering getting MySkyHDI just prior to the RWC, but might hold off that idea for a while now and wait and see.

The MySky HDi is the most dumbed down piece of hardware i can think of - in the sense the firmware on it is limiting the hardware. This combined with sky's decision of removing half the disk space for PPV doesn't help the case at all.
It has 1x eSATA, 3 USB ports, and 1x Ethernet port. All totally unusable and all have the potential to be used for external storage (listed in order of likeliness)
320gb drive halved to 160... 4 tuners and one sealed off for PPV.... Mandatory HDCP on HDMI required so Hi Def isn't possible over Component video...

Whats the bet that you have to pay $200+ for an upgrade to a 1tb model, when expandable storage of this capacity is worth sub $100 now.

So, an extra $5/mo for the privilege of a 1TB HDD. Considering that 1TB HDs are likely cheaper than the 320GB (or whatever size they were) drives when MY Sky HDi launched, it seems a bit outrageous.

A better deal would be: discount HDi to $10/mo, and make the new 'current generation' boxes the $15/mo.

And for people who paid $599 upfront, ( now $649 for MySky HDi + ) it will cost another $149 to get it, which is $50 for the STB and $99 installation. Even if you have multiroom you will have to pay $149 per decoder.
Looks like the wife will have to do some more overtime at work.

Doesn't make it very clear what it would cost for those of use who paid the $600, then the $45 up front, rather than the $15 per month.

Could be an extra $5 /month plus the $100 install fee. I'll have to say no thanks in that case.

Still, I suppose there is no harm in registering with them to confirm the price, can always say no.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

Well for an extra $5 a month on top the $15 I already pay to rent a box and then have to pay an install fee is very insulting!

Unless I am missing some new feature in this box, 4 x space doesn?t equate to $5 a month extra?

What happened to the feedback we left about making better use of the existing HDi box!? Why can we still not use eSATA, and Ethernet ports? It is so embarrassing.

$150 to unscrew the f-type connector from one box and screw it to another is highway robbery. A user install option should be allowed but that wouldn't enable them to shaft their customers.

Thanks for the tweet link and I agree with other sentiments that it's a bit of a rip, although it seems no monthly extra charge for those that forked out up front.

$5 extra per month isn't terrible, but it's not cheap enough for me to make the leap.

I'd rather they just freed up the useless PPV stuff on the existing box

We wont be upgrading.

We paid the $599 up front. I expected that we would have to pay a $50 upgrade fee to get an upgraded box when they came out (as per the previous upgrade from MySky to MySkyHDi).

Can't believe the upgrade price is $150. What a rort!

We have never had any on-demand content in the two years we have had our MySkyHdi. Why cant we be allowed to reduce the space provisioned on the HDD for this service down to say 10GB.

Side Note: Our box died two nights ago and Sky techs came and replaced it the next day.....good prompt service.

They can't have a user install option as your card needs to be 'paired' with your HDi box for it to work correctly (record functions etc). You need a Sky tech to do this.
