I can get Every channel available in NZ on the H, V is a dying/dead bread.

suggest one channel you watch on "V" freq and I might change my mind.

SBS is curently via 12648 V 12600.

Regardless of whether you think it is worth watching, it is beamed on the Vertical.

am I right in thinking that, if my LNB transponder is watching a V channel, that my other sky multiroom will not get any of the myskyHD sports/movies channels at the same time?  effectively making any V channels unwatchable without a negative sideeffect on other freeview boxes in the house on the same LNB?

It's the only SBS feed that we can get in NZ that I'm aware of.

am I right in thinking that 22kHZ tone, is what switches it to V rather than H? I know that 0v or 18v switches it between each of the different satellites using the common dual head lnb sky uses.

Yes, but that can be avoided if you have a dual output LNB which will effectivly allow both V and H polarities.

‘Sharp’ Sky Dual LNB – 10750 L.O.

Newer Sky dishes have what is known as a Dual LNB with an L.O. frequency of 10750 MHz (10.75 GHz). These LNBs are recognisable by the oval shape of the face, and the twin throats on the body.

if I put 0v   on the RG6 line I get Optus C1,D3
if I put 18v on the RG6 line I get Optus D1

but how do I switch between V and H?  is that automatic?

I'm guessing that this dual head idea sucks, why would I want anything on optus C1,D3? means that they probably have to be offset to cater for each lnb slightly... I'm better to get a dedicated optus D1 H LNB and align it 100% perfectly. whats the best and cheapest link to buy a single LNB for this purpose? actually, I have a better idea.. I should align the lnb for optus d1, and not even bother tuning the optus c1,d3 one :) I hope lnb dish tuners can send a 22khz tone to the lnb to ensure I'm looking at the right satellite :)

Voltage controls polarity selection. 18 V => reception of horizontally polarised transponders, 13 V => vertical.

22 kHz on those LNBs switches between C1/D3 and D1. With 22 kHz off you should get D1.

Any transponder marked as NANZ (like the Tasmanian SBS transponder) can be received in NZ. The NANZ beam is the combined NZ-Australia beam. NZ only beam is NZB (or NZA). See here.

ahh, thanks now it makes sense...  so if I have a freeview box connected to the LNB, then it will always be pumping out 18Volts to the LNB,  and anything else connected to the same satellite cable trying to get Vertical polarity (V) pushing out 13V will be useless, because 18V is higher...    

what if one set top box sends 13Volts (for vertical) and another 18Volts (for horizontal), does that mean the average? 15.5V?  meaning they both stop working?
