Agree, and an assumption that a SAT change in the other thread needs them all re aligned has to be incorrect. Clearly there is something missing here, let's wait.
I think one thing that people need to understand, is that it takes time to take on a new role, investigate all issues, talk to key stake holders, appoint appropriate people or change their job descriptions and other wise make changes. That is without aborting existing plans and putting new ones in place.
I understand for most people, those delays are frustrating, but there are obvious movements in the space and a stated desire to be better. Not everything will be to everyones liking, nor to everyones satisfaction.

God No! Chromecast is a poor alternative to native apps. Should be a last resort.
Interesting that you say that. It hasn't been my experience but I don't have a huge screen, 4k or big audio. I have a pre-Android 50 inch Sony, an ageing Yamaha amp that does DD 5.1, and iffy RBI for Internet. That said, when the Internet is working well I can stream 1080p in stereo and picture and sound are fine, but I don't really notice any difference from 720p. My TV box is a Shield. I use Chromecast from a Windows notebook when I don't have an app for what I want to stream, or when it is more convenient, and I don't notice a quality difference. Am I missing something or does the difference only emerge with $10,000 home theatre systems?
@networkn: My question was meant seriously. I would genuinely like to know what your objection to Chromecast is. I haven't noticed any particular quality issues with it. Should I?

It can work, I do use it if I must, but I'll try my best to use something else if I can.
I do have an expensive system, but I don't think it's related to that at all.
YMMV, though my FIL has a similar experience.
I got an email from Sky yesterday that says
We’re rolling out an update to your SKY box
Over two weeks, from 23 July 2019, we’re rolling out a software update to your SKY box. It will take place automatically overnight and won’t affect your viewing or recordings.
The changes you’ll notice from the update include:
- Increasing the storage capacity in your MY SKY planner, so you’ve got more recording space for all of SKY’s great shows.
- Putting all chargeable On Demand movies into one menu to make it easier for you to navigate.
From new releases, to your favourite classic comedies, dramas and family movies, you’ll be able to find chargeable On Demand movies within the Box Office menu.
Plus, the price is now displayed on the On Demand thumbnails, so you’re aware of the cost before you proceed to purchasing and downloading your chosen film.

My first thought, it's a reminder to us all that we can buy content, advertising Box Office. Cynical me.

I have found it unreliable. Picture quality varies and navigation in the stream itself is clumsy. I had a number of generic errors when I used it with Spark Sport, and since my trial expired, I couldn't easily test it with later iterations.

OK, thanks. I haven't experienced any of that but I don't watch sports and my use is pretty undemanding.

I watched an episode Scorpion S04 on Sky on Demand today, the quality I would rate up with Neon (Was watching through TV speakers so DD not an issue for that program), it was about 1 GB for 40 minutes.
Marvels Runaways s01 is around 760 MB for 50 minutes E01
Looked at s02e01 Runaways and is over 1 Gig for 50 mins, so in summary looks like later content is being supplied at better quality, but older content is still at lower quality.
So for later programs looks like quality is fine for TV speakers, when I'm using decoder in back room will test sound through Amp to see if sound is at least Stereo on more recent content.
Edit: I did need to press the Red reset button next to decoder smart card to make Sky Link pick up router, if like normal it'll last for a day, hopefully software update fixes that, unless hardware related - after pushing red button about 3 minute reboot time for Sky Decoder and wifi picked up straight away.
I have started to watch NZTV on demand and have noticed a vast cut back in advertising which is great but I bet it will eventually increase. We still get a bit of buffering at times, so await the magic cable with patience.
I find SKY via sat to be perfect picture quality.

I find the amount of advertizing seems to vary from program to program. Maybe more ads on more popular programs. And yes get a bit of buffering as well but watchable.

I remember the first days of watching on demand a message said something like 'Vodafone has sponsored this so that you get it add free' if your reading this thank you Vodafone.
I assume it still applies, but ads I FF through as most Sky I watch recorded. OD has ads you cant forward
Mmmmm: In the Herald today 15 Jul 19 concerning an email sent to customers today, Sky said it would roll out the changes over two weeks from July 23.: Changes coming to Sky Box: more storage space, on-demand tweaks
Still think this is putting cheap lipstick on an expensive pig.
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
