The one and only way that I've been able to consume the 8,000kbps stream (or even select it for that matter) is through Kodi and Matt Huisman's add-on.

my synology router is saying the apple TV is peaking at about 3.5MB/s but is averaging far less than that.

Oh cool, will give this a try tomorrow.

Bit strange how sky dont make the 1080/50 stream available via any official app or the website.

Are you including Apple TV in this? Looks great on mine so I assumed the bit rate was maxed out

New Summer of Sport deal available. 3 months of SSN for $99.99 then auto renews @ $39.99 p/m.

So basically a better deal than the 12 month option and you're not locked in past 3 months.

You can buy this on top of a month pass if you have it currently but they don't stack, so the 3 months would start immediately and you'd lose the rest of your normal month.

I asked the chat help how long the deal goes for and he couldn't tell me as he didn't know but I'd assume it'll be at least a couple of weeks.

Thanks. My issue is replays on OD, I take it they are still sparse. (Not highlights)

The email I got earlier says:
"grab a Summer of Sport pass before 31 December and you will get three months of unlimited access to Sky Sport NOW for just $99.99."

I can go to the channel and restart anything that has aired in the last 24 hours and watch it in full.

Thanks. I recall that worked on a PC, does it work on ATV4 and an iPad?

Crazy good deal that!

A bit of a kick in the teeth for those on a 12 month contract though.

Sky TV is all about new custom, not retaining or looking after existing custom.

You're not wrong on both points.  I just purchased it and can confirm I have a subscription through to 1 Apr 2020.

I'm glad that telco's and power companies don't do that....

Note that in order to cancel you need to email Sky, there is no way to cancel through their account interface (!!!!!!!!!!!)
