I can go to the channel and restart anything that has aired in the last 24 hours and watch it in full.

Thanks. I recall that worked on a PC, does it work on ATV4 and an iPad?

I don't have an iDevice to check it on.  Works on Android though, so I guess so?

Apple TV users - are you able to manually choose the quality from the app?

On Android devices, the highest quality stream is what they refer to as "720" and equates to the 3mbps stream.

On a PC with a browser, two additional options are available:

"720HD" - a 4.5mbps stream, which I *think* is 50fps.

"1080" - appears to just be the same 3mbps stream as the "720" option (ie. not 1080p resolution).

Sky actually serves a 8mbps 1080p50 stream but it doesn't appear to be available through any official apps.

I need to correct myself here and apologise.  I was looking at the wrong network request when I made this observation.  Selecting the 1080 option from a web browser like Chrome DOES in fact use the 8mbps video stream.  It shares the same audio stream as the 720 option, which is why I was fooled when I saw 3,000kbps in the network requests.

Sorry for the confusion.

I have seen a few comments about poor frame rate for ATV4K users back a few pages. I've tried the suggested changes including changing the output to 4K 50Hz and disabling 'Match Frame Rate' and I still get pretty bad judder -- on the cricket I could see 5 cricket balls on the screen during reasonable levels of motion.

Anyone sorted this out?

i only have a 1080p TV so i set mine to 1080/50 and tried match frame rate both on and off but that didn't make too much difference. at least setting the ATV4K to 1080/50 made it watchable. it's still not ideal though and doesn't look as good as watching it on mysky hdi. too much jitter.

I don't have Apple TV but I can say that the 1080p50 stream on Sky Sport Now looks decidedly less than 50 fps.  The same broadcast for the cricket yesterday on Kayo sports is vastly superior.  The higher frame-rate is as clear as day and far more watchable which is very frustrating considering this is a Sky TV broadcast!

Not sure if you guys are aware, but Sky Go now offers the full quality streams; technically the same options as Sky Sport Now (ie. the max quality is 1080p50).  However, here's the real kick in the balls...  On Sky Go, the stream actually looks 50 frames per second.  Side by side on my monitor, the difference is striking.

I wonder if this is intentional on Sky's part, or if these are some teething issues?  I am tempted to subscribe to full-blown Sky (+ sport) now, but what I will miss from Sky Sport Now is the 24 hour replays.

Yes there are a few threads about this exact thing. Awesome that SkyGo has been upgraded, but SSN now sucks in comparison - especially as Sky said it was going to be a 1080p/50fps service when it launched - at the moment it definitely is not.

Really bizarre. I have Sky buy I got SSN twice to see what its like. On the laptop it was better then SkyGo. SkyGo is now excellent. Im shocked if SSN is crap. My only issue with SSN was no replays. No I dont want to have to cast/airplay/watch tablet or laptop just to get 24 hour replays. If they were on ATV I'd look at cancelling Sky. But the reality is, the convenience, the new SkyGo, makes a Sky sub worth it. SSN having no "real" replays means i change countries each week or I flag it

I didn’t notice much difference tbh. Comparing ssn natively on Apple TV compared to sky go on chromecast. Though I think the upscaling and output of the Apple tv is superior to the chromecast.

Then, SSN now was better than SkyGo on the iPads. With these ongoing changes I guess it depends when I or you looked. However, the second time I tried SDSN with golf I noticed a lot of judder, weird I thought then. Maybe now I see why.

Would have been last week. I was comparing Moto gp. I wonder if the source differs?

I've admittedly only tried Chromecast and on a PC (Chrome).  But I've found the best way to see the difference in frame-rate is to watch Snooker (eg. on Sky Sport 8 right now).

I find cricket with the ball or the bowler running in or a wide angle camera shot panning around the crowd.

No doubt. But I do recall on on my first test SSN was way better, but SkyGo was fine. Golf. The next time, which IIRC was SSN on ATV4, the golf ball juddered big time

If SSN had full replays on ATV4, i.e. OD I;d go for that. But I do have to admit the convenience of MySky and SkyGo does make me want to stay with Sky. One stop shop and all that (inc FTA) Having said that Spark Sport rocks. Turn it on and use it, never thin about it, it just works. Replays galore, thats what Sky needs
