sdav: I'm big on the UX side of things believing that any technical issues can be resolved so my input is more around that. I think as it is right now is quite nice.

I would like to see the menu that appears on hovering over the programme fade in and out, makes it more pleasant on the eye. In this menu I would also like to see the rating and episode lengths too.

While in playback I would suggest the time counts down on the left rather than show the total time.

With your main focus on TV I think you should have an instant next/choose next episode menu come up 15-30 seconds before the show ends. Its good that it automatically loads up the next episode when you exit the player but I would prefer to stay in the player to go to the next episode if I'm so inclined to binge.

I think there could also be some more UX tweaks to make it even prettier but I assume this is not the finished (polished) UX?

Just minor things and I'm sure some of them have been mentioned already. It's the little details that when pulled off will smoke the competition.

We've not done any deals with anyone about zero rating - so if we are, it's no thanks to us...

Do Snap zero rate Akamai? Or do you have the all you can eat youtube bundle, or something similar?

Silverlight has an option in it's settings for hardware acceleration, which will allow for the use of a GPU. I believe it also needs to be enabled in the player as well, so Lightbox would need to enable it also for it to be used. I am unsure if they do or not.

From my experience working with OpenGL, I can say that could be a reason for the stuttering.

They have a zero rate between 1 & 7 (??? I think those are the right hours) over night and as an add on ($) all you can eat You Tube

Will you be monitoring what shows are being watched and what's in peoples watchlists in order to see what sort of content people might want? You could even copy what Netflix does and see what shows are being torrented to see what people want.

Is there anywhere you can go at the moment to see what shows are available/being added to the lineup? (I missed out on the Beta)

I'd like to see more doco/real life/science series in the line up - things like MythBusters, GemHunters, etc. The sorts of things you'd find on the Nat Geo and Discovery channels. Are these sorts of programs on the radar for the line up?

In preparation of our content negotiations, we'll look at a variety of different data sources - including customer surveys, "wider internet usage" and viewership in NZ or other territories.

As we go forward, obviously usage, watch listing, browsing, search terms etc. will all be important sources of this data for us.

Would it be worthwhile having a "Is there anything you'd like to see?" contact option on your website. Obviously there will be cases where users request content that is hard/impossible to get due to exclusivity arrangements. But there may be some gems suggested that you didn't think to source.

FWLIW, I know I'd get my wife to sign-off on immediate sign-up at launch if you had all current seasons of Sister Wives (reality TV show) available. NetFlix has up to S4, and we can't find the remaining seasons anywhere outside of iTunes & Amazon. :-)

This is not a beta access issue so I thought I would post here.

It seems most beta users are using PC's, IOS devices and Airplay(?) to access the service.

That's all fine but I would much prefer to watch on my big TV (I have no IOS devices and Airplay sounds like a bit fiddly).

What sort of dedicated media players would folks like to see implemented?

My preference would be

- PS3 (that could just be selfish since I use my PS3 for Netflix, Amazon, Vudu and Hulu)
- Some sort of TV app but that might be difficult since there are so many platforms around
- A locally available media player like a WD Live or Netgear NeotV?
- Google TV (but only as a last resort). I do have a Google TV device (Logitech Revue) and it does Netflix nicely on a big TV and the app is just from the Play Store.

All the above devices support IR remotes and universal remotes which I think is essential if the service wants to be in the living room rather than in the home office.

i hope they just make an interface that is common and can run on multiple platforms with not much alteration (too many people just code for a specific device and then get screwed up).

for starters I would want a decent pc client, being able to control via a remote (completely) hopefully as a downloadable app, possible in the windows store. same for macs i suppose for them. be able to stream from those apps to chromecast/apple tv.

android/ios app that can stream to chromecast/apple tv

samsung tv app, this seems to be the most popular tv platform

xbox/playstation.

but ideally to reach a huge audience without needing to buy a device, a freeview channel :) quickflix promised this, so it must be possible, not sure why they never delivered though.

Mine would be:

Smart TV App (Mine is Samsung, but all of them would be nice)
AppleTV
Android App that could be sideloaded to an Amazon FireTV etc.
Telecom provided device, but it must not be a one trick pony - too many things plugged into the TV already.
