Been testing the Lightbox app on an iPad Air for the last few days both via wi-fi and cellular, in my home in Chch, a hotel and cellular (Telecom 4G) in Dunedin. I've watched the 1st episode of Vikings, a couple of Modern Family's and a few Office UK (classics!) Generally a good experience, but issues noted:

- 3 or 4 times the stream has hung.  I've had to take note of where I was, exit and re-start the stream, then fast-forward to where I left off.  Happened on both wi-fi and cellular and on more than one program/episode
- Once while on cellular the stream hung. I had to exit the app and restart Lightbox which hung ta the opening logo (tried a number of times). I had to switch to wi-fi to get things working again.
- As already mentioned elsewhere, it would be nice to be able to resume from where I left off after exiting a stream
- The search needs some refinement - if I type in "Blacklist" it returns nothing.  If I type in "The Blacklist" it returns the TV program.

Good start to Lightbox though - enjoying the app.  Gonna get myself an Apple TV so I can test it up on the big screen.

Yeah, search is very unforgiving at the moment, we'll definitely look to improve it.

The iPad Air Apple TV 3 experience I found top notch

Keen to see how iPad 2/3 goes

Be good to have an area that you can show program's. And be able to vote for program's you would like to see come to light box

'K I'm using iPad's 2 and 3 with no issues that my silly rural internet doesn't impose directly. At work 100Mb/s fibre streaming to ATV3 clear and clean as a whistle when testing, though some 'Deago' cartoons showed artefacts at one time (only reported afterward by my 5 year old, not sure which episode or the extent as I was in a meeting myself)

At home, I suffer from a slim buffer margin on my 1Mb/s rural ADSL, Netflix works fine if I wait 5 mins for its 5 min buffer to fill - can watch a movie all the way without skipping or buffer stops. Lightbox has little or no buffer, and (at my crappy internet speed) stops to buffer if ANYTHING else happens on the net... Even basic web surfing or my Outlook polling for email sets off a "buffering" for 30secs to a minute or more.

lightbox- Please increase buffer sizes to at least 3-5 mins!

Ipad app seems superior quality to laptop at present, though still fail to get direct airplay to work, need to use mirroring with a 'never' setting for the lock screen to use ATV happily...

Stream only hung once for me, and returning to the place I was in the stream by sliding the time across brought in a desynch of about 2 seconds between picture and sound. Sound was ahead? Fixed when I exited and restarted the stream, later sliding time to correct point 15 mins in successfully maintaining audio synch... Put down to an anomaly :)

*edit for autocorrect

Ok spoke too soon. Desynch happens every time I try skip the 'episode recaps' in Orphan Black S1E4&5.

Sliding in to minute 3-5 causes the sound to gain 2seconds on the video EVERY time (tried 7 times) right now when trying to watch. Hate watching a recap of a series I'm binging as I don't need/want reminders of what I've seen in the last couple hours so skipping slightly is a norm for me that is frustrated here?

iPad2 IOS7.1.3 (latest) watching on the iPad directly over wifi...

[Update] seems its the episode that has an audio desynch in the iPad version (are there different versions?)

Laptop (specs previously) plays in sych though the first 5 mins (though buffering horribly tonight!) but iPad has desych from the beginning intro. restarted app, restarted iPad, hard reset, no resolution... seems I can watch the 44 mins out of synch on the iPad, or in sych but buffering every 30 seconds on the Laptop... not a good choice to make though I'm not sure whether it's a Lighbox thing (desynch on ipad) or somehow related to my crappy internet speeds (like buffering on laptop prolly is).

please test  Orphan Black S1E4 on an ipad someone?

My 15yo tried her iPad2. her sleepout is at the other end of my property, fed by a Huawei WS323 extender, about 7mbit speedtest. The old iPad 2 played just fine.

if im running lightbox on a second monitor, and i move the mouse to the other monitor the OSD doesnt go away, and when i move back to click to hide it, then move the mouse away it pops back up :)

it should auto hide after xxx seconds, and also hide the mouse cursor at that point (had to move the mouse cursor off screen on my HTPC last night, annoying).

I've logged it for attempted reproduction and subsequent escalation to the vendors.

are you planning on implementing a fastforward/rewind similar/same as netflix, where a preview window appears above the timeline?  IMO this is the best way to do it and makes it easier to get to a certain point.

like this:

would work best with keyboard controls as well, left/right to bring it up.

Thanks. I'll take a look at it.

To be brutally honest, it might not be something we can do a whole lot about - there are many links in the chain and tracking it down and getting folks to redo everything (driving significant costs with them) can be difficult.

One thing I've noticed is very high cpu usage during playback.

On my older 2.4GHz C2D Macbook Pro it is using 70+ % CPU during playback of SD video on Lightbox... I can play 1080P youtube using half that.

Really impressed with the initial selection of shows so far.   Well done Lightbox!

Is there a particular reason that the web browser UI is fixed at 4:3?
