that's fine. But for your average family in NZ setting up netflix is a pain in the ass, whereas this just works.

Thats not quite true. Setting up NetFlix can initially be a PITA. But once its set up, its generally lot easier to get it onto your TV. We're lucky in that we already have a relatively ideal LightBox infrastructure in our house (Two Apple TVs & an iPad). But I'd really love to see LightBox support in a lot more devices, which I'm sure they'll also be working hard to achieve.

From a personal standpoint, I'd love to see the app extended to iPhones (currently we can only stream to one of our two TVs, as we only have one AirPlay capable device their app supports). And long term, it would be awesome if they can get an invite to create a native Apple TV app.

I'm impressed with the content Lightbox have managed to obtain, but I only recently started using Netflix and paid for a years Unotelly... so will let that run out and look at the available options then. Wife wont be happy paying for 2 services for TV ;)

We're in a similar position (with 6 months still left on our UnoTelly sub). But the 1/2 price offer to existing Spark customers may make it attractive enough for us to subscribe anyway. Will see how the wife feels after seeing how much content is actually there. When she initially looked she wasn't impressed, but it sounds like she had a filter applied to the result set she was viewing.

Also, if they could secure Game of Thrones (I know, I know, Sky have the rights to that locked up real tight), it would be an insta-subscribe (providing they have very little lag between US screening and availability). Probably not going to happen, but dreams are free, right?rere

But a show that may be more obtainable would be Sister Wives. If you can get beyond Season 4, that would also be insta-subscribe for us (don't judge; I'm playing my "guilty pleasure" card on that one).

richms: I have just tried lightbox and its pretty aweful on the desktop PC. Picture is juddery. Sound seems fine. Its like instead of doing a 3:2 pulldown on the content to get it to 60FPS it is picking random numbers between 1 and 10 for how long to show each frame for.

I will take the PC out to the machine with the HDMI capture card in it over the weekend to capture the resulting playback to see how many times each frame is showing for, but whatever it is, on the desktop monitor is is horrid, and I hate to see what motionplus on the TV will make of it.

Just as a point of reference, 30 and 60 fps playback fullscreen from youtube is faultless on the same PC.

"Capture Card" uh oh. Anyway, if your pc can blast out a high def youtube being faultless, obviously there is something not quite right with your setup. Some people play lightbox on less powerful lappy/pc and they don't get that "juddery" issues you are having. Maybe silverlight is causing issues for you? Youtube uses flash so it's two different beast alltogether.

What 1/2 price offer - I have phone and fibre with Telecom and haven't seen an offer?

It captures fine, I got about 1/2 hour of content (only 720p because its an old capture card) and it didnt miss a single frame I could see, Its really good for picking out pulldown issues since you can frame step thru the resulting file and see how many times each frame is output. Shows how crap console gaming is when the same frame is there 4 times in a row ;)

We're currently unmetered due to "work in your area", and have been for a couple of years now. In fact, its the reason we haven't jumped to VDSL yet, as we've been told that will activate the metering again. :-)

We're currently unmetered due to "work in your area", and have been for a couple of years now. In fact, its the reason we haven't jumped to VDSL yet, as we've been told that will activate the metering again. :-)

So am I, but for having a TiVo (which is still in its box).

Yeah, I seem to recall it is TiVo related. We only just fired up ours two weeks ago, so we can test it works (it does). This adds another nail in Sky's coffin in our household. We now just need to get around to getting our Freeview aerial coverage extended to our lounge. Most of the pieces are already in place, I believe. So it should be a relatively simple job (may even be one I can do myself, although I've got 0% experience there) :-)

Unlimited is the same for any customer with spark $109 per month, if your 80gb plan is costing that much it must be an old plan
