You call up and sign up with a different name. Not sure what's hard to understand about that. Just don't so what I did with my good town card and be colonel Hartland sanders because it's very hard to get them to change it later if you need to.

It's not hard to understand... Thanks for the cheek. Much appreciated. It was wondering if they had another family member with a different name or they got away with a fake name given the flatmate was fake. But then I rhiught that was obvious given my original question.

Wills1: The fake flatmate trick worked. Got the same deal as above today. Getting installed later this week.

Will call and cancel our existing sky sometime next week. Thank you to the contributors in this thread!

So how did you sign up under a different name?

I just made up a name and birthdate. They didn't ask for any identification. I gather they get paid a commission on each sign up, I had a feeling she knew it was suspect but asked me to get friends and family to call up if they wanted a deal.

No, its not. I have had several people advise me (ones that should know) that signing up for services under aliases is perfectly allowable.

kharris: You could try ringing 0800 4 SKY TV (0800 475 988)

This is their telemarketers, not their regular consumer line, so they provide much better deals than sky can.

This is for new customers only.

My deal was a couple of months ago but I got:
$48 a month deal:
- Sky Basic
- Mysky+
- Sky Movies
- Sky Sport
It is for 1 year service.  The contract is for 6 months so you can change services after that time or cancel with no early termination fee.

I also added the HD ticket for $10 - so $58 all up.  Still a great deal.

Hey guys.

I am looking at doing this deal, I have never had SKY and everything would be under my name, so no "flatmate" trick. What do I say when I ring up?

- What is the best deal you can do for me and hope they mention the above?
- I read on a website there is a current deal...

I don't really care about movies, just want the sport really.

Etc etc

Also there looks to be so many numbers to ring, unsure which to ring. The post above mentions 0800 475 988 however when you google search for Sky NZ 0800 759 759 pops up and on the Sky website (I cannot find it but I remember it) there is 0800 800 759. Unsure which to ring, I am guessing the first number.

Cheers.

Ring the number in the post, say something like "A friend told me about this deal you can do where I get Sky/MySky and 2 premium channels free for 12 months." It's as simple as that.

Cheers. Will most likely give it a go today or tomorrow. Will report back if I do it.

Except that is not the same deal.  The deal we got includes a free mySky+ box.  They would charge you an extra $20/month for that.

Hi all,

Been following this thread over the last little while, as thought it would be good to see if I could get my parents onto this deal, they were on the Vodafone + Sky 'one bill' option.

They have arranged with Vodafone to disconnect the service and called Sky to arrange a reconnection on the deal under my mother's name, but Sky seemed to be able to find that there was an existing Sky connection and would not sign them up.

I tried to get as much details from my Dad as possible about what he said, but he ended up getting quite (understandably) frustrated. It appears he needs to also return the sky set top box himself else is charged a $25 fee?

Parents are terrible at giving far too much information to companies over the phone, probably told them all about how they had sky and it was so wonderful blah blah.
