gzt: I'll be annoyed if it's crushed by traffic and I can't watch it for several days ; ). I'm guessing they inherit some excellent infrastructure from Spark and it's not an issue. Anyway Neon has been running for a long time without issues should be good either way.

I can't see that/ Lightbox is the new platform. Its been used by MANY free Spark subscribers. Now thats its pay, and plus Neon, I cant see it being battered, and even if it was, they had heaps of free Spark subscribers.

Last I looked you could join SkyGo without a Sky Account, this gave access to Prime TV content that is on demand.

I don't think thats right. Unless you "borrowed" the login

I'm just going off Skys Questions and answers on their web site (link provided in original reply), plus what I've heard from others.

Have a Sky Account, so I'm unable to test as don't wish to create second account  with different email.

Was a while a go I posted, and no one has replied that it doesn't work.

Edit: That post was in response to Prime on Demand on Skygo, Not Neon, Lightbox, that maybe the area of misunderstanding.

grolschie: Lightbox never supported 5.1 audio. Does (the new) Neon?

I have not heard any announcements. I'll guess nothing new for Lightbox in those areas.

it would be great if new Neon could get a Xbox one app. I started using my one-x more as a media player but still have to switch back over to the ps4 just for neon rather annoying.

Thanks. Did Neon ever have 5.1? So Neon is moving over to Lightbox's system, not vice versa?

Fron Sky site

Sky Go is available at no extra charge for Sky domestic customers with the minimum of the Sky Starter package, and Vodafone customers with the minimum of the Sky Starter and Sky Entertainment...

No, neither platform had 5.1... I'd imagine not many people in NZ actually use 5.1; the big players support it as their user base is global and therefore the development time was probably worth it as a point of difference.

Neon is merging with Lightbox so we'll get the lightbox platform with Neon content; better as Lightbox wasn't that bad and already had the apps developed compared to Neon.

Thanks. I watch everything through my home theatre, so it'll still be Google Play movie rentals for me.

I can go without 5.1 for most TV shows (something like Game of Thrones would be an exception), but for movies, nope.

I did ask on their facebook page about appleTV app (which was confirmed) and 5.1, I was told they'd pass on the request for 5.1 to the technical team. I wouldn't hold my breath though. If they did 5.1 for movies, I'd stop parallel importing my HBO content

I hope that Neon's movie rental system is better than the out of the ark Lightbox system which I refused to use for rentals.

So will the Apple TV Lightbox app just become the Neon app tomorrow?

Yes basically, it will have been expanded to cover NEons stuff like movies and PPV but it should be essentially the lightbox front end coloured green.

It becomes quite frustrating when inferior platforms hold the steaming rights to quality shows.

And also from the Sky site, note bit I’ve bolded.

Is Prime available on Sky Go On Demand

Yes, selected Prime On Demand shows are available on skygo.co.nz.

Simply sign in to My Account and enjoy the shows on offer. The best way to find Prime On Demand content is to simply search 'Prime' in the search bar.

For non-Sky customers, Prime On Demand has programmes available. All you need to do is register for My Account (it's free!), then search for what you can watch.

You'll be able to view all programmes with the Prime logo beneath the programme title.

I see Lightbox is shutting down at 10pm tonight. I wonder if the switch will be in the middle of the night.
