How are people renewing this deal without waiting for the 3 month stand down.

We only have 1 month before $49 a month goes to full price and Fanpass still not where I need it to use content wise.

Can I just cancel and sign up strait away under wifes name?

kharris: Netflix might offer limited 4K content but there is three different subscription options. 1 for SD, 1 for HD, and a premium sub for 4K stream.

The difference is that with streaming , many people want SD because their internet connection may not be able to handle HD. Plus they may have a data quota. But over the air transmission doesn't have such restrictions

That may be true but it still costs more. If I was just down to consumer choice why not offer all three at the same rate.

It maybe better to look at it the other way around. That is, if I only want SD, why should I have to pay the HD or 4K price? But other streaming services like lightbox don't offer different pricing or different options. It is HD or nothing. I think Amazon also just has a single price no matter what the resolution is.

I'm

You could take that up with Netflix as to why they differentiate on SD, HD, and 4k.

I don't really care. I don't think it's an abnormal practice. Someone was just saying why does sky charge extra. They used the example of Netflix. I was simply pointing out that Netflix does charge more based on the quality of the stream.

I was responding to Matt. I agree.

If your on the special deal, its 30 days. The Sky deal, i.e. calling Sky directly, that is 30 days

Between you and me, I feel Sky is well involved in this non Sky special deal, as in a soft launch.

So I called up and had a chat with Vivian. Was set on getting this deal with sport and soho for $49.91.

She convinced me a better deal was to go with the $39 option with sport and add soho separately @ $9.99/month saving me 92c and not being locked for the duration.

Very helpful and its being installed tomorrow.

Another note, I was asked if I had been a customer in the past two months just to stir that pot a bit.

She also asked if I heard of the deal on the internet or via a call. Internet (read GZ) was the answer obviously.

That seemed to cause a bit more work for her as I wasn't in the database but she was more than happy to take my booking (and commission I presume)regardless.

Anyone heard if they have stopped doing this deal - let a mate know about it and when he rang there was a disconnected signal and no voicemail as has been the case in the past.

With the ramping up of the FanPass pricing, does anyone know if these deals are still going?

Might have to bite the bullet and  get Sky reinstalled. Which is probably exactly what they wanted. If I can get it for $50 a month though, I may get it past the Minister of Finance.

AFAIK yes.  Pricing should still be the same as in the answer.

I'm afraid I just can't be bothered anymore.. don't want to play the get cheap deal and then return at end game - too much hassle. Was willing to pay $50 a month for fanpass when I was going to be watching, but not $100.

So it's goodbye to dying super rugby and sky.
