joker97: It's what the book says, doubt the make up the penalties on the spot.
joker97: Very interesting ... One can appeal a Bathurst race result! I doubt they'd change the results? The champagne's been drunk, parties been had!
Just for tv, like olympic medal ceremony
They can still take things away after the fact based on protest outcomes. Much like a court of appeal ovetturn

I suppose that's true ... but I won't hold my breath ... I don't know enough of the rules to say whether Whincup is clutching at straws or he has a strong case. I'm guessing the former.
Well, I watched Bathurst over the whole weekend via SkyGo - OMG. They got it right :-p It only dropped out once the whole weekend, and quality was pretty good really.
Was an interesting race, pretty quiet until the last 10 laps or so....

Kenko is a 888 back-door team. So Essentially taking a win from their own away if it works. But too many factors at play for this one, 3 items in the book don't quite add up, and the method they were interpreted by each driver differs at the time.
As for others not knowing the outcome or not following along whats happening to know the re-jigs toward the end of the race. It's easier if you watch the start (the fuel/tyre strategy explained). And you can then sit back and work the same calculations (a heap easier with live timing beside your tv feed for pit in/out!). When there is yellows early. Its like christmas, top the tank up - go further than your conterparts if near the front. When it's late, calculator overtime.
They can only do a certain number of laps on tyres.
Only have 9 sets of 'green' to use throughout the weekend.
With that, they calculate how many times to swap tyres out and WHEN is best to.
Fuel has an average burn of 4.5L. You might use 3, you might use 6 a lap.
110L can be cooked in 23 laps. Just _23_ - so when it got to the pointy end with 1 tank only in and 30 odd to go they had to get very tactical. You either had enough gas, or you were going to run out with 2 to go. No question about it - thats what it come down to with 88 v 97 ignoring how economic Scott was going and tryin to push hard to extend the lead past 35seconds. Both needed juice, but would need to keep a top 5 position in the field to have any chance
To compensate for any splash n dash that close to the end you NEED at least a 35-40 second lead (time to travel pit lane) ahead of your next rival PLUS fillup time to make an additional 23 laps. But as with usual, the yellows had other thoughts and that was out the window

1. What is a green tyre? They are all marked with yellow Dunlop letters? Green I gather is harder and goes farther?
2. I saw the final crash as a racing incident. JW was entitled to go for it, but he braked a fraction too late and didn't make the corner on the inside line, and had to use SM as his tyre wall. These things happen all the time in V8SC. Maybe he was penalised for slowing down, causing GT to need to swing out, unfortunately collecting SM who was coming back in. I'd give the podium to all 3 of them, and maybe stop the race just prior to the incident declaring SM as the winner. But that won't go down well either. Don't know ... it was very very unfortunate for all 3 of them, who deserved to make up the podium. But Bathurst is usually won on luck of SC happening at the right time and not who deserve it most.
3. Are the co-drivers V8SC racers too? What do they normally do?
joker97:Brand spanking new. 0 Hours on it.

New = fast as hell, worn = slippery and slow
Chew too many in qualifying and top10 and you run out, so they try and wear them fairly evenly.

The difficulty comes in with the new redress rules among others.
If you bunt someone off, and they can redress. You are required to heed to them returning to the track to that position. If you don't it's 25 points off, That's where he lifted off (didn't brake)* and why RB are asking why he was done for 15sec from the onset first for attempting to do so.
The person redressing must do so safely **
Following cars are meant to do all possible to avoid contact in an incident***, much like on the road. Rubbin might be racing, but not really OK on paper.
*It comes into question, did he slow down and block GT on the racing line on purpose for track position. Or was there blind spot vision
** Questionable if he did so safely - they don't beleive so at the speed and veering immediately left as he did so. So has been pinged for it.
*** I think other stuff being analysed will be GTs move. it *appears* he accelerated to pass JDub on the right during redress, right as ** was occurring with potential blind spot hinderance. Not only tagging JW in the butt un-necessarily but meeting SM in the middle
If anything this will be a long one noone wants to put their name to being the decider on :) And the telemetry and in-board cameras will be fully utilised.

Usually, or development series drivers stepping up. Once upon a time it was all 'A-Class' drivers. So you had 2 big names in every car. 2 years back that was made to be A+B or A+Rookie or B+B/Rookie to stop domination. So you will find quite a mix of names you don't often see pulled in from other classes of motorsport, or never heard of before having a go.
