tdgeek: Kid making, you mean loss? Letters close together.
Ha ha, yes. Posting on a small screen without reading glasses combined with auto-incorrect can make for some hilarious typo's. Been back and fixed a couple, but there's probably more :-)
tdgeek: I believe they now turn a profit. Miniscule per revenue. A teeny downturn or rights cost increase, its gone. They do need to increase the price by a few dollars, its still cheap as chips but it will be a high %. Remember when it went up by 2 bucks? The world nearly ended. People are cheap. Apart from realists who are happy to enjoy good value, or pay more for a premium service, you work that out.
Profit is profit is profit. For a youngish company (11 years in the streaming game, much less globally) I'd say they're probably exceeding everyone's expectations. This all way, way off topic. But while we're here, let's not forget that NF poured US$6.3b into producing original content last year and have said they'll increase that to US$7b this year. Keeping returns low (at this point) while building a strong portfolio is a very smart move. They quite clearly have a long term focus.
I'm quite interested to see what sort of focus a new CEO will bring to Sky NZ.
