Thanks for this information and the time taken to type it in
You first sentiment is mine as well. If I didn't have/need the Sky channel then I would not get it
carlito1979:....There's weird inconsistencies in the GUI. The TV Guide shows the channels in ascending order, but when you bring up the EPG when watching channels it's the other way round. It's weird. Not being able to hide channels you're not subscribed to is also annoying, especially considering how slow/laggy the interface can be on occasion.
Or at least allow keying direct to a favourite channel using the numeric buttons.
Am I missing something, or are the numeric buttons on the remote completely redundant?

No they are not completely redundant. They quickly get you to a channel when you are viewing live television on the Guide.

I wish to control a Sky Pod from a room that is physically distant using the supplied remote control. Currently a VTV is in use and the IR signal from the remote is retransmitted via HDBaseT and an IR flasher. Is there a device out there that will receive a Bluetooth signal, send via ethernet, and retransmit at another point near the Sky Pod?
I just set up 2 of these for a 75yr old as a replacement to Vodafone TV.
3 words - What a shambles...
These Sky Pods are not ready. They're a buggy, slow mess and not at all intuitive. They should be sent out in a set up state and not require pairing with a Sky account via a QR code. I then sat down with the owner and guided her through it but taking 10secs to load up the guide is bad in itself but also missing TV1 and 2 for us was another story.
Edit: Didn't actually know TVNZ channels were not available "by design". Think I'll be recommending a full sky install here.

When I got home from work on Tuesday my new Sky box was dead.
Don't know what caused it but it just got replaced today.
The good news is that I had been having a few issues with series link recordings but that seems to be ok now that I have a new Sky box.
Would be interested to hear if anyone else ended up with a faulty box.

Every electronic device has a small % of units that will be Dead on Arrival or shortly after. It usually seems more common at launch because of the shear scale of units being delivered at once at the higher likelihood of people talking about their dead device publicly. They're usually replaced straight away rather than going through a repair process (although your mileage may vary).
In a previous life I was responsible for a major retailer's launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the country allocations for the PS5 were so tight that Sony were terrified they wouldn't have enough spare units to cover the DOA or Out of box failures. I think we were okay in the end, but it would've been a terrible experience for someone if they'd had a dead PS5 and then had to wait weeks for a replacement.

Ive had Sky for years. SSN is rubbish. It seems the Pod is little better. Full Sky for me "just works" More cost? I guess so. It just works.

Technical phone support and other Sky services to be outsourced and 140 roles to go at SkyTV
Hi there.
Quick Question - Not Related to the Sky Pod.
Can anyone with a new Sky Box (Satellite Based Unit) confirm if the Box is running a separate SmartCard or is it running an Embedded Crypt System ?.
Its either going to have a Card hidden behind a Slot or not.
I see Sky are running Dual NDS and Irdeto Encryption and assume the new box is utilising Irdeto and not NDS as their Old MySkyHD Boxes used.
Cheers:
