Its comparable if not better than NRL livestream. NRL Livestream is the best when it comes to quality and value (free).

wasabi2k:

Has anyone used Livestream and compared quality?

 edit: NRL specifically

AB's were watchable, had the stream drop out 3 or 4 times again though, the error message dosnt stay on screen long though (same erro message service not currently avaliable) and I failed to get a screen shot again, clicking play again seems to fix it.  rating 7/10, it works, its HD but dosnt seem 100% reliable yet with high loads

Agreed that most errors seem to be upstream, somewhere in the processing chain from source to delivery to your house.  ADSL seems very capable of handling these types of streams, often with a wifi component inside the house also, which may or may not be very good either.

SeymourScagnetti: Hi guys,

For those of you wanting to know about Apple TV. We've just had another software drop which we are working through and testing. It looks great but still a few kinks and intricacies to work through. We will need to get through those and then do the Apple TV certification process. I am hopeful that we'll be able to release it late in July/early August.

Bj99 - Apple TV will not have the 24 hour playback feature at launch. I would love it to be on all our devices but at present it is only available in the web player. We are working with Neulion on extending features such as this one - because it's awesome.

Cheers
Alex

Any update on availability of Fanpass app for Apple TV? Is it still on schedule for July/August release?
It can't come soon enough - I'm currently using the Samsung app which frustratingly requires username & password to be re-entered for every use.

Would be handy if it were in time for the Black Caps tour of Africa which begins on July 29th :)

Great, this is exciting news!

Can I ask is the app being developed in house or by a third party like Accedo or Alphero?

I ended up not renewing my subscription after last weekend content. The Indycar was on sport 2. That was the only live sport out of the 4 channels. The other 3 had Rugby highlights replayed rugby games and shows talking about rugby highlights. Live V8 supercars and I think it was another live event on one of the 3 pop up channels over the weekend. They are even advertising in the Highlights on the Fan Pass website V8 Supercars. Amazing....

Hi Radomatic,

We're pretty excited as well.

As you probably know Fan Pass runs off the back of the Neulion sports streaming platform which powers services like UFC, NBA and MLS. Front end development for our apps is team effort between Fan Pass and Neulion to create a product that work for kiwis first but takes full advantage of the back end.

Cheers
Alex

Hi shrub,

I'm sorry you didn't find enough live sport over the weekend so I checked out what had been live (some of which is listed below) - granted, some of it was during the night (hence the replays and highlights) but I think it was a decent line-up. We do showcase our on-demand highlights on Fan Pass just in case someone missed something they wanted to watch or haven't used the 24 hour catch-up feature on web. We are at the mercy of Sky Sports programming a little and while not to everyone's tastes shows talking about rugby and rugby highlights seem to do surprisingly well ratings wise.

We are also looking at some ways to make it easier to find sports in the schedule on Fan Pass.

I hope you find more of what you are looking for next time.

Cheers
Alex

Is there any thought to having packages made available similar to how Fanpass originally offered?

For example with the upcoming NZC tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa having "tour packages" for those?

Hi voy1d,

We will definitely be doing more of this type of thing. We did a special pass earlier in the year (about 3 weeks duration) around the ASB Classic and Australian Open for the tennis which proved popular so there will be more to come.

Cheers
Alex

If this is the case, then why no Formula 1 pass?!  I paid $$$ last year for this and as mentioned earlier in the thread, would gladly pay $$$$ for it again this year but you've not given me the option.  Which means you're missing out on my cash, and I'm missing out on Formula 1 - so we both lose!  Surely there's something you can do here - especially as you had it working perfectly last year - so there's no technical barrier, only political I assume.
