I got a reminder this morning to cancel my Lightbox subscription before the billing started, so I logged in to have a look at its status. Interestingly, the 120 Spark discounts are now showing again and I am not due to be charged anything on the next rollover date of 14 April.

This is kind of weird. There has been no advertising or email about this benefit. So, the reality is in doubt.

Edit: Maybe they are gearing up/testing for it but that is groundless speculation.

Well, my free trial is well and truly over - I started it in January 2015 so even with the original 2 months plus the Spark 12 months added on, it would have ended by now, yet I'm still getting it for free (happily). A few posts back someone shared a cryptic response from Lightbox which didn't really say much except to enjoy the added bonus, so I'm reading between the lines and assuming something is afoot.

Well, I guess that's one way of keeping you subscriber numbers up for comparison with Netflix. Key difference, though, Netflix don't give it away for free.

Rather than free, I prefer to think of it as a complimentary part of my Spark broadband. Long may it continue.

Spark shareholders looking down the barrel of $20m+ investment 'black hole' may beg to differ.

Maybe if they had got access to any decent and recent sci fi or action shows, they may have had a bump up in subscriptions, but so far I have most of the sci fi stuff in my dvd collection, and don't see anything new or interesting appearing on their lists.

Surely they must be able to pull a contract with syfy channel or something?  I mean, its still mostly dribble on syfy these days, but at least they are making new productions.

_Still_ no Android TV app, so have cancelled my subscription. Given how incredibly basic their regular app is, it's poor that they haven't got it working on more platforms.

Getting the same, the date of expiry or next billing has been removed from my Subscription Settings, showing I have a Spark Discount. I agree with @Dingbatt must be a customer benefit, been with Spark since the dial up days!

I think that is a bug. If I disable the subscription, it then reappears, to tell me the date it is billed upto. Lightbox said I would be emailed at least a week before the end of the subscription, but it is due to expire tomorrow based in the date they told me. So it looks like their system isn't working properly still if it isn't emailing people.

I wondered why when my 12 months expired at the end of March that i wasn't billed.

Also you can get three devices to use on the Spark payphone WiFi system.

Nice! Have reached out to Spark to see if it applies to us.

While we are Spark broadband customers, we're currently renting while our house gets re-clad. As a result, we've simply taken over our Landlords Fibre connection, so have suspended our Spark broadband service for now (we do still pay to have our email available (yes, we do still use ISP provided email (and yes, I'm trying to ween the wife off that))).

Hopefully this new offer applies to us when we move back, and we'll only be in the pocket for Lightbox subscriptions while we're renting.
