Yeah I did think it could be the weather. But if I power the box off then back on it comes back with a fine picture but audio still not 100% in sync.

I’ll see what it’s like tomorrow after the weather has passed.

Manuals are accessible online, so is RNZ national if you install the app or stream it is on.

The Sky Pod and New Sky Box are Android based TV set top boxes, specifically the Sky Pod is a Google Chromecast with GoogleTV.

I'm not sure if you are talking anything rational when you claim to "need a new TV".

I would suggest that you can use the digital audio out to connect to your tuner by fibre optic.

I do have a digital audio

Will try and find manual  - well hidden

When I tried to install RNZN it said incompatible

Wrong.
The skypod is not a Google chromecast with Google tv.

It's an oem android certified device that functions like a Chromecast, but will probably never be updated to new version of Android. Unlike the official device.

We've had the Sky Pod from pretty much the start and have experienced a number of niggly issues:

  1. Picture and voice out of sync
  2. The controller not controlling reliably
  3. Slow Speed when stepping through the icons on the home page

To resolve these we normally turn the box off with the controller and turn it back on.  I don't think the slowness actually improves with this action.

We have had an issue where the Pod seemed to behave well you could navigate to the apps but failed to load Sky Sport, only loaded Netflix and other streaming apps to approx 25%.  After contacting the Helpdesk they talked me through a process to resolve the issue which involved resetting my account and a few other actions, finally resolving the problem by unplugging the Pod from power waiting 30 secs and re-powering the Pod.

Hmmm ok, my MySkyHDi works flawlessly, day in and day out, no need to cobble all that together...

If it wasn't for the size (we got a smaller TV cabinet when we changed to VTV) and the $15/mo levy on top of the subs, I would've opted for another one of these. It was offered as an alternative to the pod, but I deferred to the resident interior design manager. In her mind, if it's in the lounge, function follows form.

Well, that's ok then, but while its aesthetically more pleasing, the myriad of issues make it a severe downgrade of functionality, usefulness and enjoyment.

I had assumed that it will be prettier, smaller, same functionality, plus new and improved functionality. It just seems to be prettier, smaller and a downgrade.

For you - no. But LesA came straight from Vodafone TV (like I did), so there never was an option for him to have MySkyHDi.

While they are Google enabled their functionality is still quite limited. You can only power on and off, change volume and cast to it. You cant change channel.
The Google Home app barely ever enables the full remote, while the GoogleTV app has a bit more reliability.

Wrong: you can change channels using the navigation on the Google TV App.

I was referring to the Google Home App and Google Asst functionality... You cannot change chan nel with Smart Functionality eg voice or commands

The Google TV app just has a Virtual remote...not really that smart

The topic discussion of this forum is becoming confused between the new Skypod and the new replacement satellite box.
Perhaps it would be helpful if the moderators seperated the two into a new sub-group?

So watching tv on the new Sky satellite box.

The audio is definitely out of sync with the picture.

There is also a freeze when you change the channel.

Is this happening for everyone else?
