Free for lifetime of your plan.

So the 1 in 5 (16%) of Sky subscribers that were going to cancel after the RWC didnt cancel, despite the "why pay squillions for television" campaign and the traditionally high-churn summer season.  Does this mean that Lightbox think that its market for paying subscribers has saturated and that rather than waste money on marketing that its cheaper to offer it for free to Sparks BB base?

And what becomes of the economic rationale of buying new exclusive content?  If it didnt attract new Lightbox subscribers, is it likely to attract new Spark BB customers?  Can one measure its value in terms of reducing churn?  Or do the content acquisition plans get changed too?

Any thoughts on whether there is a link between the change in strategy and Snodgrass leaving?

I tried that link, but it said " Sorry, it looks like you have already redeemed a previous Lightbox voucher for this account. You don't need to do anything - your subscription has automatically been updated."  I checked my Lightbox account and it still shows the usual $12.99 sub payment coming out on May 3.  I'm hoping that it'll just take a day or two for the accounts page to update.

I am currently chatting to Spark online, after Lightbox were unable to help, to see if they can manually issue a voucher code.

It appears the problem is related to me having a free 12 month sub from Jan 2015, that I cancelled as I did not want to pay the montly fee to keep Lightbox. Spark appear to have renewed that voucher, but as it was cancelled I can no longer redeem it, and my Lightbox account does show any subscriptions.

Churn reduction, ufb incentive, customer gain incentive, higher cap purchase, similar returns from higher cap purchase as subscription. None of these are 100% but combined are a marginal win.

It says in the article "Spark will be contacting all of its home broadband customers directly but customers can also check out its website for information on how to get Lightbox and free Spark WiFi."

I have just received the following response from Lightbox;

I have looked into this further for you and it seems that you do have to contact Spark directly as the agents have a process for issuing you a new code for your account. Once you have this code, you will be able to enter it and when it is working, you won't be asked for any card details as this is linked to your Spark account and so you won't need to pay.

I had already chatted with Spark, who said they need to esculate it to their Lightbox team, and I should follow up if the CSR forgets to email me back in the next few days.

Yes - BB and telecommunications in general has become a commoditised market. Spark, like their competitors, need to provide value added services in order to increase their margins.

Dingbatt: Rather than free, I prefer to think of it as a complimentary part of my Spark broadband. Long may it continue.

Why thank you. But more like wishful thinking become fact.

I have yet to receive a reply from Spark, however they have now fixed their website, so that it no longer produces an error.

Got my voucher code, and successfully applied it to my lightbox account.

Same thing has happened with me, I've got Spark and Lightbox following it up. No resolution just yet.

After rscole86 saying the website was fixed I went back and was able to get a code issued, which I then applied to my Lightbox account without any worries.  So it sounds like Spark have fixed or simply disabled the thing that was causing the error for people who had previously received a code, and if you go back and try again it might work.

Now if they extended this to Skinny Broadband clients....

I'd think they'd see an increase in uptake of Data Add-on's too :)
