Nope. I think it affects the monthly rental. We paid the $600 upfront and pay for multiroom with the old silver mysky and the Hdi. A couple of others here paid $149 and recieved the mysky+ and kept the Hdi in place of the silver box.

I am not sure what happens if you are "renting" the Hdi and want to do the same thing. Are you paying additional rental for the silver mysky and the hdi?

It is all very confusing, even to the CSR's!

I am probably the same as you, my journey was...

1. Had old origional sky decoder

2. Paid $600 to get grey MySky, origioanl decoder now used for Multi-Room

3. Paid pittance to get MySky upgraded to MySkyHDi, kept MySky as additional decoder. Origioanl decoder returned.

4. Recently phoned to get MySkyHDi upgraded to MySky+ plan to return grey MySky and keep MySkyHDi. They told me that would be $150 plus $15 a month, I asked to speak to manager they weived the $15 a month. Now have MySky+ and MySkyHDi (for the kids). Very happy as me and kids win. Did all this on the day the MySky+ was released. (now 65% still free)

Indeed confusing !

I used to rent SD sky and they installed the old style, dark grey sky box a few years back. All good.

Then we upgraded to Mysky HDI and started paying a monthly box fee for the HD box in addition to the sky channels.

We also paid an extra $25 a month to have multiroom which also meant we didn't pay for the HD ticket cost of $10, effectively giving us multiroom for $15 a month.

I (today) presumed this $25 covered the box cost (old sky box) but according to the CSR, it covers the 'service' costs for supplying multiroom, not the box costs.. We went around in circles when I kept asking her why they were about to charge me an additional $15 for moving my current HD box through to the other sky room when I was already paying $25 for multiroom. She said the $25 covered the "service ", not box cost. Endless loop for 5 mins :)

I argued the service was already installed and the tech used a splitter in the roof - a splitter that was installed in my house prior to their tech arriving funnily enough so what ' service' or functionality did $25 give me..Surely it was the box cost...Another 5 minutes of looping.

Will call them tomorrow to speak to a 3rd person, then a 4th etc until I can get some facts.

Seems straight forward to me. Here are your current costs:

$??   For whatever sky package you get
$25 Multiroom - to receive same package as above on second decoder
$15 MySky HDi rental
$0    Standard decoder rental
$10 HD ticket
-$10 HD credit (for having multiroom)

In the new setup your costs will be:

$??   For whatever sky package you get
$25 Multiroom - to receive same package as above on second decoder
$20 MySky + rental
$15 MySky HDi rental
$10 HD ticket
-$10 HD credit (for having multiroom)

As you can see your subscription goes up by $20 a month - just the rental cost of MySky + box.

The 'extra $5' you mentioned in your first post is if you SWAP the MYSky HDi, ($15 dollar rental), for the new MySky +, ($20 rental). If you want to keep the HDi box then you are now renting TWO boxes not ONE.

The $25 Multiroom cost is NOT a decoder rental. It is, as the CSR said, a 'service' cost. What 'service' you ask? It is essentially a second Sky subscription which instead of charging you full package price for, they only charge $25.

No point me bleating on here..Was just keen to understand if this was the variability of the CSR's and their lack of knowledge or standard policy if you already had mysky HDI etc

I think most people who get to keep the HDi box for multiroom are the ones who paid the $599 for it upfront, (at least that's how it was for me!) although there are probably some here who rent the box and lucked out and are essentiallly getting the HDi in a multiroom situation rental free.... not sure...

Anyways, like you say, no point going on about it . Just wish Sky would make it easier for everyone by clearly defining the costs for people changing setups... and inform their CSRs better so you don't get 3 different answers from 3 different people.

I thought it was Sky's policy to wave the $10 monthly HD fee for those with multi-room, or has that changed?

Hi Spong.

That is the current situation but from his email the $10 rebate would only apply to the main box in my living room.

The multiroom setup would be (extra)chargeable for an HD feed.

However, call back tomorrow and that may or may not change

The HD ticket has always been free for both HDi decoders in our multiroom setup and also now with the MySky+

That would be like charging for movies twice to have it on both decoders. Don't think most people would wear it.

I paid for my first one upfront, have mysky+ and hdi as multiroom. Get charged $25 multiroom, get a hd charge on bill, then a hd credit cancelling it out.

Monopolies are great!!!!!

Considering the price of the + box must be about half the cost of the original MyskyHDI box(to Sky)....its a bit shameful.
