I rung at about 5 tonight - went thru the phone tree, I selected call back. Got ring back by Sheryl about 10mins later., she was based in AKL

Told her I wanted to cancel as my 50% disc was due to end and she offered to extend it another 6 Months. Done and dusted in about 10mins :)

They do have a deal on for sport and starter for $55 for 12 months for new users

Clint

Tbh just rung now.. all i get is Filipino call takers.. they wont budge AT ALL.. even if i threaten to cancel they want to help take me through the cancellation process? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 thought they wanted to retain business not lose it.

Ask to be put through to the retentions team. Same as above, I always get sharp deals

Ended up getting another person from retention. $54 open 12 month contract Starter and Sports. Not as good as your $55 with entertainment and Mysky but meh. I tried pushing for that $55 6 month contract with Ent too lol they wouldnt budge

To be fair, if they caved on every call, thats a cost. If you want to go, just go. To me, and its only me, its value. I see all channels, recording is super convenient, I watch recorded more than live, docos, News channels when there is a global drama (as in now), it works for me.

Its financially better to let some go, than have a mass revenue reduction across many users

$54 is pretty good, that $55 deal was last year. I'm currently on Starter, Sport and mysky for $67 a month.

I spoke to a workmate yesterday who is on no deal with starter, sport and entertainment with mysky and paying $115 a month!

No doubt not for subscribers that supported the company for decades?

Well yeah because just like basically every business they use promotions to get new customers.

You probably got a promotion when you first joined. And it's so easy to get them to give you a discount as an existing customer.

I pay 54 a month for starter, entertainment, sport, my sky.

Every year when my discount runs out I ring them and get a new one. This year I literally got them to make it cheaper because I'd previously been paying 60 something.

Just ring them and say you want to cancel and you'll get to the retention department.

Last couple of times I've done it (I've been renewing my discount for as long as I can remember), to just cut to the chase I've said look I'm going to cancel because I really just watch Sport and I can move to Sky Sport Now for 50 bucks or whatever it is and have no contract. They'll then start offering discounts etc. This is what I would actually do tbf, but they just always end up getting the price in line so it's worth it for me to keep the other things. Plus I have Internet with sky and I get a discount on that for having the TV subscription.

You'll often get the first person who will offer you just 20% as a standard amount "I can't offer you anything more" and I just say no problem, but I know for a fact people are paying x so please put me on to whoever can give me that discount. Then you'll go on hold blah blah blah they'll come back with something better.

Just note this will require you to lock in for a year.

Most likely unless you can twist the arm of the retention team hard

Can confirm, Ive done this the last 4 years, as posted in this thread previously.

To all those paying "full price" a discount is only a phone call away, don't get stuck paying lazy tax

I received this offer via email a couple of days ago (exisitng customer) I took them up on it, as it worked out to be $7 a month more than what I was currently paying for Starter, Sport and recording.
