looks good, but for this to be viable there need to be ways of watching on the TV without having to plug in a computer. Needs to support xbox360/ps3 and major TV's from release.

will still get it but of course everything takes time & money

From what I can tell, stuff from WB & CBS (which is what The CW is basically made of) is really hard to license under modern streaming terms. It took ages for Hulu to get The CW on-board (and still their agreement doesn't match iirc the main 3 players on Hulu), and Netflix only has the most recent CW shows as part of a post-season output deal arrangement. Other WB/CBS content is fairly rare.

Hi I got it running through Firefox on Mac no problems with full streaming only gripes if info box pops up immediately when hovering over tv shows blocking view of other shows when deciding to watch...

Checking IOS app on Ipad Mini also running smothly no delay and easy to navigate...

Can't wait till it's out. Even though netflix has a far larger catalogue it never works 100%

Im just gonna say this.

If/When you come out with an android app, make sure it is not samsung exclusive like TVNZ, Sky and TV3 all do.

That is all.

Same with smart TV's.

I asked and was told No. Unfortunately for me and a lot of my friends it means we probably wont take up this offer as good as it is. One thing I like about Netflix is that even the commercial DVD's that didn't have subtitles are subtitled on Netflix.

Because I don't like Apple. I bought the Apple TV only because it was the only "legal" device in NZ for streaming HD movies.

PS3, Xbox1, Roku, and many more all stream Netflix in HD (and have done for some time)

Ok so got a Invite for the beta

I use Macbook Air, Apple TV and iPad

Quality - OK quality , seems HD equal to 4-5Mbit on Netflix - but not anywhere near the top quality stream from Netflix, HBO Go or Hulu Plus.
Sound - average, 2 Channel Audio
Interface Web - very average - looks like they have copied the netflix layout - video doesn't resume, doesn't remember what ep you are on etc. I think this is one of the most important aspects of any video service and while services like quickflix are worst - it could be heaps better
interface ipad - bit faster , but still all of the above.
content - was rather impressed considering the talk about the limited budget telecom had on content, seems odd some eps are missing? not sure if this is a bug.

played a few eps to test and it worked - but when watching something like Louie which is also on Netflix - its night and day, i think i got about 30sec in and switched back to Netflix - Quality was better, interface was better, sound was miles better(it was DD). I can see the issues other video on demand services have when Netflix launches in their regions, while its fair to say they have had years of experience improving their interface etc - this service is going to be very short lived if we see Netflix launch in NZ next year..

but overall its a good start for Lightbox - looking forward to more competition with others later this year!

I'm looking forward to this. Happy with the launch so far. You have to get on consoles and tv's though!

With Apple TV being invite only is there no way you can approach them? It seems odd that they have no local content yet are sold here and this could be a good way for Apple to ship more units... I'm just disappointed it's not on it. I know this stuff ain't easy.

Enjoying the service so far :)

Looks really good playing through my HTPC hooked up to my HT amp to my Samsung LED. Looks freaking amazing upscaled on my Samsung 4K.

Feedback:
Remembering play position, like on Plex & XBMC
On screen bars do not always auto hide, and mouse doesnt auto hide. Have to drag it off screen and click a lot of the time. Get this on multiple computers in the Google Chrome & Canary browsers.
Would be good to be able to build a queue, and maybe be able to select to queue all on a season.
A Queue overlay option on the player bar, to jump to another episode/queued item would be nice.
Be good to get video stats such as Twitch.tv so you can see dropping frames, current resolution/bitrate if you're having issues
Surround audio would be a nice option, like AAC 5.1

WOW!!! I never thought of that, hold on let me try it..............................nope didn't work.

So you're completely deaf then? Guess this product is not (yet) for you. Niche markets are not normally the aim when launching a completely new service (see the Roku and chrome cast comments) so you might get lucky later on, but will have to wait it out I guess.

Agree that ideally they'll want to support more than just the Apple TV / Airplay. Don't get me wrong, it's a great solution, just the cost of entry is quite high given you need both the (relatively cheap) AppleTV and a (relatively expensive) iPhone / iPad / etc.

I'm sure they have this in mind. One difficulty I suppose is deciding which device(s) to focus on, given the available range... which I can see is quite wide from just reading through the comments in this thread. Some solutions I haven't actually heard of there, and I thought I was fairly up to speed with this sort of thing...
