Pretty sure satellite will be around for a while purely due to sport and rural NZ. Its price may go up though if they run a fully digital package side by side and I would buy a cheaper digital option if offered.

 

 

I know that Foxtel work on a different economies of scale (6 times the population, higher %age regional and rural, craptasic broadband), but when they introduced Foxtel Now the satellite price did not change. I cannot see satellite delivery ending any time soon. While there are some (myself included) that don't watch much linear tv, there are plenty of others that do, and like the convenience of everything (including FTA + My Sky) in a single STB.

 

There is no indication that satellite prices will change. They are getting a lower cost fee, 30 million. Transmission is about 99 million at the moment, this also includes truck rolls to events, and possibly also commentary costs. I expect the pricing to remit unchanged. I also expect that free installs will be a thing of the past. A free dish, a free install for a 6 month contract is a losing money venture. This would help more migrate away, and if they cease fully in 2026, plenty of time to help slow movers migrate. 

The other issue is that the presentation appears to be based on fibre. Im unsure what happens of all this started tomorrow, for those on ADSL. I assume VDSL would surly be covered. I know people with NF etc on ADSL, it works.
