Changes afoot at Sky as well with a new channel lineup coming soon: https://archive.ph/J1bkE

Juice TV (channel 25) will feature contemporary and timeless music hits across every genre, with 40% New Zealand content. J2 (channel 26) will be focused on classic hits with a modern twist.

Haven't they tried this before? 🤔

Great news, anything that lessens the mindless repeats is good. Plus they keep South Park from Comedy Central which is the best news of the lot.

Looks like you can get the same deal with the newer white box as well?

"Sky starter, Sky entertainment, Sky sports and Sky movies all for $60 /month for 12 months instead of $120.99 /month with a free sky box or sky pod."

I’m gobsmacked that people would pay $120 for that. Sky Starter is mostly stuff that can be legitimately found free elsewhere? Movies are inexpensive to stream from many sources so you’d have to watch a lot on Sky to make it worth it. That only leaves Sky Sport.
i just can’t see the value.

I think we're back to that problem that streaming was meant to solve by being significantly cheaper, when you add up the cost of all the main ones then you are back to or exceeding the cost of Sky even at full price

I suspect streaming Netflix alone would give you an equal or better selection to Sky movies.

I just did the math on that and came with the same result. The issue I have is Starter is simply freeview so should free able to be excluded. Entertainment is a collection of repeats that that been repeated many times and continue to be repeated repeatedly. Last time we had Sky movies we would watch something maybe once or twice a month. I like Sky Sport mainly for Bathurst, Olympics and thats about it.

Personally I feel Sky and the Streaming services have wrecked TV viewing, using a certain application to "acquire" some watchable content has become desirable again, I would never do that, honest I wouldn't.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Indycar / Supercars really now the use case for me. I'll move to the F1 app next year. Satellite hasn't worked for a year, haven't missed any of the other regular channels other than just sport.

I was thinking about getting Sky the other day but I barely watch anything on TV these days, I don't think it would be worth it.

For rural people though with poor broadband where streaming doesn't make sense, I can see Sky by satellite as still having a lot of value.

That's always been the way really, the other options are upsell activities.  The concept of a compulsory starter pack is taking the p1ss in a streaming environment.  It's a (very) expensive service fee just like Ticketekmaster with their ticket booking fee.
