Has anyone else observed this problem? Whatever available space I have remaining on my MySki HDi box the On Demand service comes along and gobbles it up. I am left with just 1 or 2 percent available space all the time. The annoying bit is that if I want to pause or rewind the current live broadcast TV program I am watching I can't. It tells me there is not enough available space left. This has been happening for months now!

Even if I delete recorded programs and free up 20 percent or so available space 24 hours later and I am back in the same situation again. Grrrr. 8-(

Have you read the operating instructions?
Sounds like you have an incorrect setting somewhere in the setup.

I think the om-demand space is a separate partition, so won't use your available space.
Better talk to sky.

Seems to work well for my PVR needs, but I do record all of my FTA programmes on the HTPC.

Yes, I have read the instruction manual. Many times in fact. What page do you suggest I re-read?

The settings in MySky HDi have not been touched by me, or indeed anyone, for at least the last two years and it's only the last 3 or 4 months that the problem I described in my first post has appeared. Maybe a recent firmware upgrade is the culprit?

No, series link is not currently active at all.

No, I have not rung Sky about this problem. They should already know about it. I was hoping to ascertain here just how widespread the problem is before I decide if it's worth pursuing it further. Otherwise I guess I will just have to put up with it.

As a PVR I think it is really quite good. I just wish I could permanently turn off the feature that keeps downloading stuff (On Demand) that I never ever watch. It takes up at least half the storage space on my device's internal hard drive and is a completely useless feature for me.

A portion of the HDD is reserved for OnDemand content. This is (from memory) a separate partition.

This content is downloaded OTA to the device.

nothing else will work with Sky as they control everything about it. hence why they have no incentive to make it better as there is no option for people who want a different pvr on sky.

all other pvrs will only work with freeview.

Not quite true Mantis; many of the linux units will read the sky card in the internal cam with the right card software and allow you to watch Sky, I myself run a full distributed Sky setup from my windows server in the cupboard (4xdvb-s/S2 cards etc) to clients around the house in HD with 'unlimited' recording (if I run out I had a new HDD to the server or upgrade an old one).

Look up Oscam (not OSRAM) :-)

Well we have a couple of the MySky+ boxes and never get below 50% of the storage space and they are very easy to use for any one in the house, even the pre-schoolers.

Never watch anything live anyway except maybe the News - everything is recorded so hardly ever use live pause.

edit: please call sky... Im sure they would love to know (however first you may want to reset the unit and see what happens). Im with the others and think that the ondemand service is using its own partition.
Out of interest how much content do you currently have stored i.e. if you dont have any programs stored does your disk space remaining still show 1-2% as you stated.
