I found this picture while looking the through the Sky 2013 AGM presentation. It looks like the new HD EPG with SKY Go on the decoder though Ethernet. SKY announced last February that they would release SKY Go on decoders within a year so it shouldn't be long now. When Sky UK started using Ethernet they introduced a new HD EPG changing it from the old one which was the same as the My Sky one now.

It would be about time they updated it, it does look a little dated.

Ah-ha!  The first sign from Sky that their vintage EPG needs updating.  Your right, a new EPG was rolled out in the UK when proper on demand content via Ethernet.  It would be a natural connection with on demand and also a new EPG, but I haven't seen ANYTHING from Sky with regards to proper Ethernet on demand - when they launch that, I would expect a new EPG.  Have I missed something and proper on demand content will be released?  Don't get me started on broadband data caps per month - this will make downloading an HD box set very challenging!

Reminds me of why I suggested with that Telecom Router project that they provide more than the usual 4 ethernet ports, more stuff to plug into it! But very pleasing to see a significant upgrade is on the way.

Just saw this on CNet UK:

Would be great if this foretells what we may expect here.

This will be the 2nd update of the new UK shiny HD EPG guide. It’s clear how much VOD content is now being made on offer almost equal footing in the EPG with the standard TV guide. HD box sets etc from the over 50 HD channels and even HD boxes with either an Ethernet socket or a Sky WiFi dongle. It’s clear when you compare Sky NZ to other territories how desperate we are in need of an EPG update – it looks like it’s on its way.

I even brought my UK Sky box with me when I recently arrived from the UK – obviously it didn’t pick up any Sky NZ channels when I plugged it in – but it did have the shiny new UK EPG – I could of even donated my box to the boffins at Sky NZ and said – here – take my box – it’s got a built in working EPG – use that Sky NZ!

Here is a nice little review of the new UK EPG (just to rub it in a little bit more to emphasis what we are missing out on here in NZ)...

I would like some very simple improvements, like the planner should always go back to the last viewed/highlighted show instead of always starting at the top!  Folders for sorting shows, and improved searching that is all.

Spend the rest of the budget on Discovery and Natgeo HD :)

Yep, and I would also like to be able customise the planner so that I could eliminate the channels that we don't subscribe to or that we never watch i.e. like a favoutites list, much like Sky offer on their mobile apps.

Folders for sorting shows - its called Series Stacks in the UK and works INCREADIBLY well - cuts down on the pages and pages you have to search through your planner - and searching that worked like a text system - and you could write the full show in - again simple stuff - but very effective and just enhances the user experience.

I totally second the increase in HD content....the content is already there in HD - its just Sky NZ either cant or wont provide it to us and that should also be a focus of their efforts....

Can't get too much more HD channels, Optus D1's already quite full.

You won't see any more HD channels until they retask the satellite as DVB-S2 H.264. To do this they have to replace all the old set top boxes. Could be 3 or 4 more years I would guess.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
