I see they have some movies and what appears to be some live sport in HD but does Sky also show Freeview in HD if it's HD on Freeview?

What about broadcast TV shows from the US?

Just wondering

Thanks

TV1 - HD from july
TV2 - HD from july
TV3 - HD where available (same as freeview)
Sky Movies 1 - Many are HD
Sky Movies Greats - Many are HD
Sky Sport 1 - Rugby is HD if in Aus or NZ, dont think SA sends a HD feed. Cricket is in HD. Not sure about others.
Sky Sport 2 - As above

Sky Sport in HD:

Rugby - almost all games from NZ, some games from Aus, no games from RSA
Football/soccer - all Phoenix home games, some A-League games from Aus, some EPL
NASCAR - every race on SS1 or SS2 (sometimes races are on SS3 when scheduling is so)
Panel Shows - Reunion, Deaker on Sport, The Crowd Goes Wild etc
Rugby League - All Warriors home games, Monday Night League, some Super League, no Nine or other Fox games yet
Cricket - all games out of NZ and Australia

that's all I can think of right now, there's probably others.

Thanks. It will be interesting then in July to see how TVNZ audio is broadcast. On the HD platform they use AAC-HE LATM and I have no idea of the HDi boxes can handle that audio format and so if the audio has to be transcoded to say DD 2.0 for re-transmission

I think 1 and 2 are HD from June 1st, July 1st is when TVNZ 6 & 7 are shown on Sky.

oh yeah, I don't tend to watch much golf.  But even so, I think it does look fantastic in HD.

Is the audio 5.1 on movies? Also any regular TV shows in HD which I am guessing not since they are usually shown on The Box?

Sky installers have been requested, when performing work at subscribers homes, to upgrade their dish LNB units to quad receivers, in anticipation oif additoinal HD content in September (approx) of this year.

hmm, perhaps Sky is buying some capacity of the soon to be launched Optus D3, which will be co-located at 156E with Oputus C1

I've just had HDi installed this afternoon, the guy kept the current dual-throat LNB on it but has run 2 cables to it, he said they have proper Double LNBs but Sky has told them to not start installing them until monday (just missed out), but I'm assuming someone will be contacting us later this year to install the double LNB.
Have got Sky Sport 1 on at present wth the live netball, have to say from watching standard tv for ages its a real clear picture I can see here!

DjShadow,

If your Sky installer is a "nice guy", he should get back to you.  My install was done on Thur. of this week and I'm expecting to hear back from my installer mid-May for the quad-LNB and cabling.

In respect to TV3, irrespective of what Sky Customer Serives may have told you, the best that Sky HD can offer is 720p.  It should be a considerable step up from standard TV, however if you are comparing it to TV3 via FreeviewHD, it isn't going to be as good.

Regards,
BuckoNZ

Especially if Sky has to convert 1080i to 720p. And by the way, the news is not in HD but I guess like all their SD orginated source, upscaled to 1080i

hmm I don't think this guy will come back to install the new LNB

I've not seen TV3 on FreeviewHD but I was watching the netball on SkySport 1 which was in HD and it looked pretty good, hence comparing to that
