after months to buy or not to buy i finally brought the mugen battery power pack

main reason is i want 3g reception all the time is nearly 40% better than 2g here ...3g does battery drain, after the pr 1.2 update didn't fix it ....
first i thought i sell the ph for the coming up N8 but after the dual boot android and my tv remotes working on it i am keeping it for good....
will let you know how it goes, as i will not change no apps etc from turning the mugen battery on .......

omg not the iph useless 4 ...remember to hold it the right way otherwise u get no reception :P

first test of new battery is impressive , dont have to worry bout battery going flat no more again :)

im still using the battery that came with mine and its working great. use my phone regularly and it lasts about 3 days. the auto disconnect app saves so much battery its not funny.

sorry haven't got back to you guys about the mugen battery ...

i find it excellent well worth the money. i don't have to worry about it going flat no more i use it as much as i can now , got the 4 home screens filled up with widgets on 3g constant and connected to wifi .

been testing it on you-tube clip streamed for 2 hours nonstop. used all day went flat by night .

other days .have done 30m on recording ,streamed from wifi , and txing all day, played games , still 20% juice left .

i am very happy with the battery ... i can actually use the mobile the way it was meant to be used ....wish it was like this with the original battery.

downside a fat heavy nokia now ,no lens cover, not that matters or a stand that i never used .did take a while to get use to it doesn't bother me no more about the thickness
battery meter dosent like mugen battery for sum reason either ......

verdict buy it if you can afford it

on other news android porting over is nearly complete soon as they get the 3g and gps working i be jumping aboard , maybe 720p recording not to far of either now that f camera/code is out .....

why not get a second normal sized battery instead of a bigger one? probably cheaper that way too

when I was a bike messenger I had an extra battery (or even two!) for my imate

as only the slowest of slow days would it have a hope it well of only lasting on one battery and even then, probably would have to be finishing early too :P

plus an extra battery for the RT too, means I had to charge up a LOT and the end of the day (as there were two more batteries to charge as well for each of my vf and telecom cellphones)

First thoughts;
It's a very practical case, all buttons, camera, plugs etc are all accessable, which is far better than my old Nokia CP-321 case where you could not access anything.

Due to it being what appears to be leather stiched to hard cardboard, its quite ridgid, and this does add more size to the already large Nokia N900. Due to this fact, I can't say it's really sexy...it gives a real book or box feel to the Nokia N900...where the Nokia CP-321 is about 3mm thiner and looks more sexy.

But all misgiveings regarding the size and looks of the Nokia CP-408 case can be forgiven when using the Nokia N900 in daily use...

The Nokia N900 is a power hungry, battery consuming device, and I am forever charging it, at home, in the car...so to be able to charge it without having to take it out of the case first, is a huge plus!

Then, there is the touch screen, and the pyshical qwerty keyboard...both are accessable and easily usable with the Nokia N900 still within this case...the keyboard easily slides up within the case grips...its a lovely fit and well design.

One benefit of having such a rigid case, is that the Nokia N900 now sits of its side edge quite easily, is nice and stable...which allows for using the Nokia N900 as a web cam...very nice!

Overall, I like it, as it is far more practical than my more basic but sexy CP-321 case.
I would recommend the CP-408 to anyone wanting a case for the Nokia N900.

Just wondering if you are still finding this case really good? I am looking at getting one off ebay and just thought I would see if you still found it as good as your review stated. One thing, does it at all scratch the frame of the screen when you slide the keyboard in and out?

Yeah mate it's a good case....
I have just come back from holiday in Thailand and the case saved my N900 from many rough usage.

I maintain that this case does add weight and size to the N900, makes it ridgid and its not really sexy...but it does what its designed to do very well....protect the N900, while still allowing easy access to all buttons, ports, power, screen and keyboard.

It does not scratch the screen when sliding the keyboard...simply becuase you have to open the cover to access the screen and keyboard....so it cannot scratch the screen.
The N900 never needs to come out of the case itself, you just open the cover flap to access the screen and keyboard.

Recommendation?

If you dont mind a large and ridgid case.....then I highly recommend this case for the N900.
If you want slim, sexy and comftable.....this case aint it.

I also recommend the case BUT the plastic clips each side have scratched the paint off the frame on mine (worse on the left) and strangely rubbed the paint off along the top between "Nokia" and "N900".

Thanks for the replies guys. It seems the perfect case to me, the size etc is not a concern. Sadly I did see the potential for it to scratch the bezel as has happened with scotts. Others have been lucky though. That would make me cry if that happened to my N900 :)

Cant say I have had that problem......but I'n guessing you have done far far more typing than me....hence opening and closing the slider much much more.

That would annoy me immensly.

It's not so much scratches as just the paint has rubbed off. A carefully chosen black permanent marker would hide the silver I currently have.

Taking a photo hasn't been easy, I need to find a better camera . . .

God that would really drive me nuts. I would be too scared to ever open the keypad. I will hold off ordering mine until I see how bad it is. Interesting I have not come across others having this issue. My luck I would have the problem. :)
