It also comes down to the most popular phone out there at the moment. There are alot of iPhone users out there at the moment so ofcourse they will side with the iPhone. I have had an iphone 3G and I agree they're a great phone. I like my HTC Hero better at the moment for its flash support. Only my opinion but I have used both so I can see it from the other iphone users point of view.

Do you find the web browsing experience better than the iPhone though? I've seen a few videos of the browser and it looks a little laggy and doesn't format well when zooming in.

Also, the iPhone 3GS loads websites and renders them about twice as fast as the 3G. (lol I sound like such a fan boy but I'd seriously consider the Hero if the browser is as good as the 3GS)

The browser is very good on the Hero. Not much lag, also just had a ROM update which has sped up the lag issues throughout the phone. When I do the zoom it formats it perfectly on the screen, have had no issues there.

I haven't tried the iPhone 3GS but have heard nothing but good things about it. To be honest I'll be looking at the Nokia N900 when it comes out.

I have the HTC Magic, and it doesn't lag on me at all, also I did have flash support on it since it's a rooted phone but noticed some websites did lag with flash support.

In saying that - if the iPhone got flash support too I'm sure it would also lag...

The browsers on both the iPhone and the Android platform are both Webkit, aka the same browser. This is the same for Google Chrome or Safari on a PC, so both phones are going to give you the same web experence.

They may render the same due to webkit, but the "web experience" can be completely different between browsers, especially in the mobile format.

Opera Mini made the blackberry go from last to nearly first. Multi task AND use the internet? Ground breaking..

All jokes aside, would speed not factor in this at all? We all know hoe th iphone ranks on speed tests....
