I am in the market to get a new smartphone and I have found that most features are similar on different smartphones email, text, touch screen etc.  Except for browsing the internet.

I have found that the iPhone has one of the best mobile browsing experiences.  The pinch feature to zoom is just plain cool and it seems easy and logical to use.

I am wanting to know your experience with other smartphone devices or whether you think that the iPhone is the clear winner in this area.

Looking forward to your replies!

In my opinion/experience the webkit based browsers found on the iPhone and Android platforms beat all others hands down.

LOL - would love to know what you base that assumption on! You're doing better than most to have had experience with the N900.

My personal opinion (and experience) - love it or hate it, currently the best there is has to be the iPhone

As the Nokia N900 is not yet available, that is nothing more than speculation.
It looks good, but reality may be different.

I won't recommend the Symbian S60v5 based Nokia N97...browsing on it is crap.
Flicking back and forth between pages is a chore, and it is forever crashing due to the lack of RAM the N97 has...

Going by reviews, I would say the iPhone wins hands done at this point.

I have a Nokia E75. It's very below average in terms of browsing experience, as was the E71 and others I have had.

I have also had lots of experience with Windows Mobile phones.

I have had an iPod Touch, and used several iPhones, and though I am not fond of the text entry methods, as a mobile browsing experience I simply do not think there is anything on the market as good as the iPhone.

* I have not used an Android handset...

Andriod doesn't have multi touch zoom, so it's a bit slower to navigate.

Actually Opera Mobile 9.7 on a WVGA screen is better than the iPhone browser...

Looks like I'm just another vote for the iPhone here... I've got a touch and an Iphone and both are amazing for browsing... Only thing is not being able to download files or load background pages but I think these were fixed with the new 3.0 OS (or there are at least apps in the store that can do this...)

N900

And yes I have used one.

I haven't used Opera Mobile 9.7 on a device yet, but have read many a good thing about it. Have used Safari on an iPhone, its pretty decent, but cumbersome with text entry.

Android is nice, but not as good as Safari.

But overall the N900 with the Fennec browser is just so damn good!! Quick, flash works (properly) easy to scan round the page as well as zoom in/out.

The point is that the N900 is still not for sale and Fennec is still in alpha...

When it's out things might change.
