It is great you are happy with it, I would have been apart from those issues which were major for me.
I'm back to me sony erricson k800 right now waiting for the next android goodness.

Interesting how different people experience things.

My iPod Touch me right off with all the pinching and squeezing. My hand would cramp.

Android (HTC Magic and Nexus One, at least) offered both a trackball and a little - / + bar for making things larger or smaller.

Wonderful. Much better.

As for games....I bought several on the iPod Touch (SimCity, DOOM, NeedforSpeed, Wolfenstien 3D...etc..etc..) and found them all horrible to play due to the small screen and hand cramps. I haven't touched one in most of a year.

If I want to play games I do it on a PC. Handsets are horrible.

As for the Nexus One, I've had mine for almost 2 whole days now...and I'm loving it to bits. The 1GHz speed is great. Much faster than my HTC Magic. My Acer Liquid (768MHz) comes close. The greater amount of memory in the N1 for running apps is great. The larger AMOLED screen is colourful in a painted-wh$re sort of way....but great for looking at in all kinds of lighting conditions. Things stand out.

I appreciate multi-touch is important to you and the Nexus One does it well enough to keep ME happy...but at the same time I'm also very happy with the alternatives and find them both very effective easier on my hands.

Yeah, a few people moaned about the trackball and before I got my n1 I wondered why they even included it but after a few days I did actually like it and found myself using it quite a bit to navigate around instead of blocking the visibility of the sscreen with your fingers. It is great for notifications too especially iwth custom roms so you get all sorts of colours for different alerts.
The screen was very clear and vibrant, only thing i didn't like was it was almost impossible to see outside on a sunny day. The iphone screen is dull in comparison to the n1 but way more visible outside in my experience.

I guess as with all phones they have their good and bad things, and each of us have our priorities etc.
It sucked going back to a k800 after having it though.. that is a big step backwards hehe. Although the k800 as old as it is still has the xenon flash and dedicated camera buttons which i love.. wish more smartphones would include that.

The only reason they know anything about the iPhone is that the marketing has been awesome. As all Apple marjeting hype seems to be.

True. I usually explain Android by saying it does all the stuff an iPhone can do AND let's you install any app you like from any source and access any file you like from anywhere by any means...and no iTunes to get in the way.

Most people already familiar with the Apple-verse get that. Those that aren't familiar with it find out for themselves one way or another. Time is Android's friend and Apple's enemy if they do not get out of the way of what users want to do.

Most apple users will be happy, I'm sure....but there will be a steady stream of people who aren't. They do tend to grow over time....and they do tend to be early-adopters and recommenders. This happened with Windows vs Mac years ago. Mac was "better", but Windows was cheaper, more open (all things being relative) and available on a wide range of hardware at lots of different price points. Windows won. But Apple always has had its loyal followers who are happy to be limited in the ways Apple dictates...and will continue to do so.
