I fear my N900 isn't going to last very long.

The screen has developed a physical click around the top-right corner. It feels like it's regressing into a blackberry storm.

The lens cover no longer works, the spring pops out of the side.

On the upside, I'm pretty sure my battery life is growing.

I've had it since Dec18.

The screen started clicking around Christmas Day. And as for the camera shutter, it was working on Friday and then it wasn't. I suspect the summer heat softened the glue. Not that it's that hot.

Reports trickling through of Firmware update now available, v1.2009.44-1

It does not make any visable changes, but appears to be a precursor or enabler for the bigger PR 1.1 OTA that we can expect soon.

It will show up in your Application Manager....not in mine yet though.

have installed the latest update, no problems, just rebooted itself and restarted. not sure if this is the emperors new clothes but it seems nippier, trying out various things, seem to have lost ability to delete calendar items. update is maemo 5, top of list in app manager, downloads

As a result of the firmware update, you can now access the Ovi Store via the web (not the Ovi Store app/link in the apps folder)

It says it is in Beta, and there is nohing available which is not already available through the Application Manager...but it is a start

Things are def happening faster on my N900! I can't wait for the real update. I really enjoy the passion by the maemo community to make this thing work. Gotta love open source...
ps If you have too much stuff in your root menu due to alot of extra's or developer downloads from the repositories the update may not be so easy. So delete and reinstall later.

So far, I have read the update has done the following:
- Dramatically increses the speed/performance of the device
- Is a precusor to a much larger forthcoming update
- Red Pill Mode has been disabled
- Brings a new look Application Manager:

Plus the Ovi Sore is now open, via using the Ovi Store app in the N900 menu

It's definitely faster, there's no 'page-load' effect when hitting back in the browser.

Also loving the fact there's a 'store'. But it's a bit uh... fumbly.

Also feeling like a bit of a twat as I didn't fill in the Ovi rebate :(

Hmmm updates awesome they normally start around 12.3am onwards I have noticed updates around these times. I new they were planning on something with the shift of servers looks like they will come thick and fast now, I love updates that fix the last updates : ) also I haven't noticed any speed improvements as people are saying could be just me though.

Well my 3.5mm jack issue, Nokia Care in Christchurch cant fix, they don't have it listed so they said they could not source parts and they could not guarantee it if they broke it.
My two options now are sell on tradme with the defect get money back get a new one. So you might see mine on tradme soon ; )
Two send back to Nokia and risk them denying the warranty on behalf of some clause blah blah that would be my luck. O question if I have downloaded any Dev apps would this void warranty given that it is definitely a hardware issue? Can anyone think of any other loop holes they might throw at me?

Also my friend now has his phone and good chance to compare to another hand set as I thought mine had a few more problems, so if you ever wondered.
The gap between the screen and the keyboard. I can confirm there is a healthy gap in both units.
Next was screen wobble on right hand side when half slid open again yes both units do this.
Third was the ability to connect to the same bluetooth devices, I can confirm that both units did and did not connect with the same devices.
One difference we found was my unit has mat buttons on the keyboard his are a gloss smooth finish? The mat was what I was expecting on both as in reviews it was noted how nice the mat is for use and feel, strange to see this changed on his unit. I would guess they had some manufacturing delay on mat and did some in gloss? who knows does any one else have a smooth gloss feel on there keyboard?
