Woop Woop!
Hidden feature found...

Browser portrait mode!

Press Ctrl, Shift and O at once, and it will enable the feature...

When holding in portrait, it will auto rotate, and likewise back to landscape when turned back...
If the keyboard is opened, it will revert to landscape.

Speculation has it that it is currently hidden/not documented as it is not fully completed.

Still looks good though, usable now.

Chur

just updated the media codecs via a new update that popped up on my desktop. i love this thing! brought myself a usb car charger and retractable usb micro cord today on trademe and my windscreen mount is on the way from ebay so my car setup will be sweeet. still waiting for my clear protector which i hope turns up soon, already managed to scratch the screen but not too badly luckily.

Euan - what are these mouse functions/gestures you're talking about?

Hmmmm.....

I notice Nokia Maps now has an auto full screen mode which can be toggled...
But Nokia Maps curently has bugs and shortcomings...
Bug: You cant enter numbers
Shortcoming: You cant zoom as low as usual for closeups, cant get maps showing address property numbers and boundrys.

When using the web browser, if you swipe across the screen from left to right, an arrow will display on the left of the screen which means mouse mode is enabled....just like using a mouse on your pc

Speaking of car charging cables and micro usb ports, is anyone worried about the rather alarming reports in this thread

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=37107&page=13

or this one

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39072

I thought the charger etc was awful firm to push in and pull out. Seems in some cases far to much so. I have filed off the clips on all my cables (as described in the thread) to make attaching cables a little less scary. I am quite glad I brought mine locally with a local warranty but for you guys that imported your N900 on your own, this problem would make getting it fixed a real nightmare. Hopefully it is just a few with an assembly fault.

oooOOOoo yet another feature i didn't know about. def gona have a play around with that. Has anyone tried doing internet banking? I use kiwibank and I can't enter numbers when i hit their login screen. the function keys just become void it seems on a secure webpage.

I haven't noticed this at all with mine. the usb port seems fine and it certainly isn't a struggle to pull the charger out either. will be checking the teeth on my retractable cord though just to be on the safe side after looking at those forums.

There is a new bug introduced with the recent firmware update...inability to enter numbers on pages like kiwibank.
It used to work before. but not now.
Now I cant use internet banking, which is annoying.

dammit i guess that explains why i couldn't type numbers on the kiwibank login page. hopefully it'll be fixed in the next firmware.

BNZ login works fine on my N900. You do have to select each square where as before it jumped or tabbed over itself but it works fine. Lucky me I guess.

Hi all,
I have noticed a bit of lag or jumpy behaviour since update, simple things like opening conversations to emails to contact screen. I have not instaled anything else and tried removing alot of content as I had a fair bit of music and movies but no change. I had also re loaded vid clips I had taken from my n900 and now the media player is saying codec not supported? also anyone know when the apps repo wil be back up?
